Lindsay Lohan to visit Dr. Drew?

Lindsay LohanShe's been criticized on and thrown off movie and television sets. She did a mock-ad on eHarmony. She's gone through a lot of pain (mostly self-induced), but Lindsay Lohan hasn't quite bounced back yet. Perhaps she should appear on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew like her father suggests.

It says something about her father that he would suggest going on television to solve her problems. Hasn't he noticed how television has treated his family?

Lohan is doing the smart thing by avoiding the spotlight as she works through her issues. Going on Dr. Drew is akin to Dr. Phil's sad attempt at helping Britney Spears with her issues a little while back. It's easy to tell what Pinsky is actually after when his initial attempt at contact was through Parade Magazine.

On the other hand, the acquisition of Lohan would be a ratings bonanza for VH1. I can just imagine Lohan having one of those inscrutable Jeff Conaway moments.

Dr. Drew is in no way comparable to Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil is phull of it, but Dr. Drew is an actual doctor with an almost pathological need to help people. With as many people as he has helped, I don't think we can begrudge him a little fame-whorishness.

Dr. Phil would be an appallingly bad choice. Dr. Drew would only be marginally better.

Lindsay would be best served grabbing herself some space and working out her issues with someone who isn't in the spotlight themselves. And if her father really wanted to be one, he'd support her in that instead of pushing for her to make a public spectacle of her therapy in the name of "entertainment".

Hmm...how many has-been celebs have seen their careers blossom after doing a reality show?

Lohan is still young, better that she take a few quiet months, go to rehab and return in 2010.

I don't agree that Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew are that comparable. Dr. Drew seems to be a doctor first. He really wants to and DOES help people. Dr. Phil really just likes to fight with people on-air for ratings. Dr. Drew seems to seek out the spotlight in order to bring issues to light; Dr. Phil just wants to be in the spotlight so everyone can see how great he is.
