Brian Austin Green isn't joining One Tree Hill

brian austin green, terminator, one tree hillBrian Austin Green won't be fighting Skynet or returning to prime time soaps next fall.

Last week, we reported that the former Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles star was in talks to join the The CW teen drama One Tree Hill. Nerds like me, who came to love Green as TSCC's badass, cyborg-killing Derek Reese, were crushed. But it's time for those nerd hearts to heal. It turns out Green's reps didn't make a deal, and he won't be moving to One Tree Hill.

Instead, OTH has turned to Lipstick Jungle's Robert Buckley, who recently showed up on the network's much-praised but still canceled drama Privileged. Buckley will play the young, sexy sports agent role that was offered to Green.

Hopefully, this means Green's political drama pilot, Body Politic, might get another shot at becoming a series. I'd rather see him star in something like that than in another teen drama. Watching him end up on OTH would've seemed like a step back for the actor, who cut his teeth on Beverly Hills 90210 in the '90s.

Here's a thought: Maybe Green's former TSCC co-star, Summer Glau, could put in a good word for him with Joss Whedon. Dollhouse might be in need of another good-lookin' man doll, considering what happened to Victor at the end of the show's first season.
