Jessica Simpson's new reality show finds a home

jessica simpson the price of beauty reality tv vh1We warned you about Jessica Simpson's latest idea for a reality TV show back in May. The pop star was shopping around a project starring herself called The Price of Beauty in which "she and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why," according to an US Weekly source.

It looks like the show is moving ahead and is set to air on VH1, the home of celebrity trash TV, sometime in 2010. Simpson will travel the world meeting women, and pop culture "icons," to discuss fashion, beauty and, of course, take part in some extreme beauty regimes and practices.

"I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect," Simpson told The Hollywood Reporter.

That's nice. I really want to believe she feels that way, and that this is a sincere attempt at exploring how different perceptions of beauty influence women everywhere. But it's more likely that the former Newlyweds star is just exploiting the recent tabloid talk about her body and using it to hang on to the dimming spotlight. What do you think, folks? Will The Price of Beauty be a sincere attempt at exploring image and culture? And what are these extreme practices women perform to look "perfect"?

The Price of Beauty is slated to start shooting in July.

Jessica Simpson is someone I truly admire! She is what alot of women strive to become. She is a Beautiful, intelligent (Many may disagree...but remember she is a successful business woman), and very confident woman! I can't wait to watch her new show! It will be very insightful to learn what everyone around the world considers beautiful!

Is she going to talk about the price of her Botox, the price of her hair pieces, and the prices of her lip injections, or pretend that she doesn't feed into the same thing she's complaining about? I've lost respect for her.

So SICK of the reality shows- every channel has forgotten how to be creative and milking off of the success of "Real World." Ready for QUALITY TV for a change...

JESSICA SIMPSON IS A VERY CLASSY YOUNG WOMAN. I LOVE TO SEE HER SING AND PERFORM. THERE IS NOT ONE CELEBRITY THAT'S NOT PICKED APART. NOBODY'S PERFECT. I WILL WATCH HER NEW REALITY SHOW. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN THE TOPICS SHE WILL BE COVERING. I AM VERY INTERESTED IN BEAUTY AND MAKEUP AND SHE WILL BE AN INSPIRATION TO ME RIGHT AT A TIME IN MY LIFE WHEN I THINK I COULD USE THE INSPIRATION.

Hey Jessica, take some acting classes and try your luck out on a daytime soap. LOL Or learn to act on a daytime soap. Something your Daddy won't be involved in. This show won't last one season.

Oh no!!! Just what everyone needs - another nightmarish display of Jessica Simpson promoting herself. I see nothing new coming here and she really does need something different if she wants to be taken seriously. When will she grow up? I understand her father is involved (again!) in this project. Will either one of them ever come up with something really worthwhile? I doubt it.
