Once upon a time, Gilligan got stuck on another planet

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 24th 2009 7:35PM
A lot of people think that The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island is the worst example of the Gilligan's Island movies and spinoffs we've had over the years. But this could rival it. It's a show I put out of my mind until I saw a link about it on Pop Culture Junk Mail. It's Gilligan's Planet. That's right, planet. They tried to get off the island via rocket ship and landed on another world (but couldn't find their way back to Hawaii??). Please note that Dawn Wells does the voice of Maryann and Ginger.

That was the worst rapping I've ever heard, and rap by it's very definition is horrible.

There was quite the cottage industry of animated adaptations of live-action properties in the 70's and 80's, with a small resurgence in the '00's.

This one fits into the future/space theme that showed up in Partridge Family 2200 AD and Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space (but that was based on an animated show).

At least Dawn Wells came back for this one - she was unavailable for the earlier adaptation: "The New Adventures Of Gilligan".
