Law and Order: CI: Salome in Manhattan/Lady's Man - open thread

Law and Order: CI

Not sure why USA Network ran two new episodes of Law and Order: CI back to back last night. Since the show was delayed so much this season you would think they'd want to spread out the fresh episodes over the summer longer. But we got to see a Jeff Goldblum episode and a Vincent D'Onofrio episode on the same night so we can compare the two leading men.

The episode with Goldblum and Nicholson was its usual yawnfest, but I was so glad to see my "Bobby Goren" back with his usual charismatic self ably partnered by Kathryn Erbe.

I prefered Chris Noth rather than the bland cerebral antics of Goldblum. Nicholson is just so blank-faced--- they should have kept Alicia Witt paired with Noth.

I would have loved to have another episode that paired Vincent D'Onofrio,Chris Noth, Kathryn Erbe, and Alicia Witt as they did a season or two ago in the episode about the judge(Colm Meaney). Goren and Noth had a quiet chemistry bonding over Frank Sinatra, while Katie Erbe's acerbic comments were a delight!

Forget the angst and get back to the superb mixture of humor, dramatic intensity, and well-written plots that use to characterize LOCI.

Vincent and Kathryn Still Rule!

I love CI's Goren and Eames.

I was more struck by the contrast of the leading ladies. Even though it was an Erbe-centric episode, she managed not to come across as weepy, unable to handle her emotions or compromised as an officier. She's a professional in an understated wry way.

Nicholson, while not as needy as the last female lead, always seems overwhelmed and hard to keep up with a dynamic male partner who's five steps ahead of her and more than her equal. I realize that she's just a foil for Noth and now Goldblum but she never adds anything to the texture of the show.
