Do you want a happy ending for Lost?

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 6th 2009 5:03PM
LostLost begins its sixth and final season early next year (filming starts the end of August), and producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof revealed at a BAFTA event that the show will have a definite ending with all of the questions answered, but it won't necessarily be a happy ending. While the ending will be "fair," they say it will also be "bittersweet." We'll have to wait until the new season to see exactly what they mean, but how do you want the show to end?

How should Lost end?
Happy ending: they all get off the island!154 (9.8%)
Kinda-happy ending: some die but most get off the island569 (36.1%)
Kinda-sad ending: some die, some stay on island, lives are screwed up562 (35.7%)
Really sad ending: everyone dies200 (12.7%)
Other scenario (say in comments)89 (5.7%)

I can see I'm not original in expecting that it's all a dream/government experiment/hallucination, but yes, that's the right ending. With a little twist at the end like something from the island still being there, and of course some relevant numbers.

I want Charlie to be alive too. I also don't want anything to happen to Desmond and Penny.

I honestly, don't think it's worth watching anymore if charlie doesn't come back. He was like my favorite character, and Charlie, Aaron, and Claire, are the cutest family ever. I don't want lost to end, it's legit the best show ever ! (:

"I would say that "bittersweet" could possibly mean Oceanic 815's passengers arriving in LAX and parting away without realizing the relationships and struggles they had built in another life."

Yep, that's the one I'm banking on. They land successfully, and scatter with no memory of each other or the adventures they've had. That's the one that leaves the most potential for follow up with later movies and spin-offs, so that'll be the one the suits choose.

Everyone who was on the plane should be in the final season, so bring back Charlie, Boon, Claire, Shannon, Michael, Walt, and even though he wasn't on the plane, Desmond should be back too.

I want a kind-of sad, kind of happy ending with the redemption of some characters, heroic deaths of others with everyone ending up on the island. I want to see Claire reunited with Charlie and Aaron in some way. I want to know why the psychic got the weird feeling about Aaron and I want to know Jacob's full story.

Have you watched the show recently???
Most of them don't care about getting off the island anymore!

Anyway, it's about the journey, not the destination. To people scared they will "Screw up the ending": really? That will spoil the whole series for you?

They will most likely go the Donnie Darko way and that one was kinda sad. I mean they've been ripping that one off for three years now...
