Neverending Jackson memorial could move to London in August

by John Scott Lewinski, posted Jul 8th 2009 3:03PM
The next Michael Jackson memorial will descend on London's O2 Arena in August. The words "rest in peace" have never held less meaning than in the aftermath of Michael Jackson's death. Now, the endless profiteering and headline grabbing over the singer's death is spreading overseas.

Tuesday's occasionally genuine and moving memorial for Michael Jackson in Los Angeles is only the beginning. Reports say Jackson's minions aren't done milking the man's death just yet.

Plans are in the offing for a huge memorial concert at London's 02 Arena on what would have been Jackson's 51st birthday on Aug. 29. Jackson was supposed to kick off his comeback concert series at the 02 next week.

Jackson went from outcast to savior in the wake of his death. Since celebrities (especially musicians) tend to be forgiven for their faults and excesses after they die (i.e. Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, etc.), Jackson had a little redemption coming his way. But the LA service credited him with everything short of curing cancer, and this London show promises to string the memorial march past sincerity to plain old-fashioned capitalist marketing.

But, it'll sell out to SRO status in hours. The only thing that could sell out any faster is anyone associated with Jackson and his sales potential.

I've surfed to this page to ask,
When will it ever END?!?!
I feel bad for the family having lost a member they loved, sorry for the people who are grieving for someone they've never met and only heard or seen and miserable because I can't even watch the morning news without hearing MORE about the (insert fantastical word here) Mr. Jackson.(who was nothing if not wierd , creepy , and addicted to plastic surgery )
let it go people, if you aren't family or close friend,... just let .... it........ go!

Oh I know. . . I am sick up to my teeth with Michael Jackson! I feel like I'm the only one who didn't drink the Neverland Kool-Aid. I turned off the tv last night when some newscaster called him the greatest entertainer ever. It's so sycophantic and fake. His last album tanked royally. He was a joke, his fans were a laughing stock, now he moonwalked on water apparently, and the fans are being bilked for every dime they have. I lost a lot of respect for the CBS news with their MJ lovefest everynight.

He's being credited for all this stuff he didn't invent. Gimme a break. The Jackson 5 is now being called the FIRST boy band, WHAT?!

I'm sorry but there are better performers out there older, and in better shape, than him who put on fantastic shows night after night and have enough creativity to acutally put out albums regularly. MJ was coasting on what little fame he had left. He'd been doing the same old tired moves since Thriller. *Yawn*
