I was actually glad when Christopher Lloyd's character died, because it meant I could stop watching.

If your asteroid destruction team consists of George Costanza, Reverend Jim, and that Ghostbuster guy, you know you are totally screwed. Not even the Rocketeer can help.

What a god-awful piece of crap this "mini-series" is ...

for example, at the end of part 1 ... a meteorite strikes a fuel truck, which is able to then turn the corner on the road, but yet is not able to steer out of the way of the Sheriff's Jeep because it has no brakes, before forcing the Jeep off of the road into a ditch?

?!?!?!?

WTF!?!?!

Yet another example why the striking writers should have just been fired instead of having their demands met.

This movie was bad. But like a train wreck, I couldn't stop watching.

I think the script was written by a computer, that just combined common themes and cliches from other scripts.

- There's a fired scientist, working in an out of the way observatory, who now has been called on to save the day by the person who fired him.

- The scientist has a cute grad student, who carries on his mission, at one point killing two bad guys while trying to get important data to those who need it

- Twice, people run out of gas in their cars, in the middle of nowhere.

- Meteorites are destroyed up by Patriot missiles (without a single one missing), yet no mention is made of the debris that would then rain down

- Nuclear missiles are re-targeted in 1 minute, and fired with something speaking the countdown and pushing a Big Red Button.

- A meteorite slams into a field of a town in California,and 12 hours later (after Earth has rotated 180 degrees and moved through space in orbit) meteorites are still falling on the same town

- A border guard can't check on a person's credentials because the Internet is down, but phones are still working fine.

Anyone have any others? There's got to be more.

I was also surprised to see Jason Alexander in the show, since I didn't notice him in the credits. (TiVo didn't include him in the list of actors.) I was wondering if he asked to take his name of the credits because he was embarrassed by how bad it was, but once I went back to watch the opening credits again, I saw his name was included.

I found this unwatchable. The script and acting were very below average. Worst TV movie I have seen in years, I think.

My $.02 - the movie was somewhat laughable. All the subplots were unnecessary and honestly just either poor writing or just filler material to make this a "4 Hour Movie Event".

What I found to be worse is that MOST of the destruction was happening off-camera. The meteors would do fly ins and rather than smashing and destroying buildings, we'd get close shots of people running away from broken glass and such. I was hoping to at least see some major carnage, but this was simply not it...

Thoughts on the first two minutes:
- Somebody's been watching BSG!
- Except, BSG didn't ridiculously overdo the "whoosh" past the camera sound. Seriously, was that an F-16?!
- Carmen Argenziano/Selmak is it this?
- Didn't we just have this on TV a few weeks ago, when it was called "Impact"?

SUCH a great movie. Except that the only reason it was good was because it was SO INCREDIBLY BAD. I had my own personal MST3K going on, yelling things at the screen all night.

Decent special effects, considering this was TV. But the acting was bottom level, mostly because the writing was some of the worst I've ever seen on TV. There are various sub-plots that make no sense - why are we forced to deal with them? They are completely unrelated to the action (

ok, I only watched parts of it, and found it largely confusing why there were murders as part of the plot. I've been trying to find a recap, but no luck. Anyone?
