BBC America serves up first seven minutes of new Torchwood
Following its smash hit run on BBC1 in the U.K., Torchwood: "Children of Earth" is heralding its U.S. arrival next week by presenting the first seven minutes of the first episode, "Day One."The week-long, five episode mini-series has already generated enough spoilers here at TV Squad and around the web, so we'll take care to avoid repeat performances here. For now, stateside viewers can visit BBC America's video page to watch the first seven minutes of the third season's first show in which Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) dies of Ptomaine poisoning.
The first 20 minutes of the same episode were already available on the BBC America On Demand channel included with some cable services.
It's no spoiler to reveal that "Children of Earth" was a huge success for BBC1, averaging around 6 million viewers per episode throughout its run last week. British fans continue to buzz on how far the show has come since its uneven and occasionally silly first season.
Torchwood: "Children of Earth" premieres on BBC America at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Monday, July 20 and runs throughout the week -- as it did on U.K. TV. Many American fans have already tuned into the series via less than ethical online means, but those who want to keep the premiere pure should stay as far away from Torchwood fan sites as possible.
