Buh-bye Housewives! Bethenny scores her own show

bethenny_frankel_skinny_BravoThe way I see it, Bethenny Frankel was the star of The Real Housewives of New York City ... even though she wasn't a housewife. What was she doing on the show in the first place? Anyway, she was the most dynamic of the group and with her interests in fashion, food and partying, she had the most to offer viewers. The powers that be have seen what I did because Bethenny Frankel is getting her own Bravo show.

Starting this fall, Bethenny will be front and center in a new show called Skinny & the City. As you'd expect, she will not be coming back to The Real Housewives of New York City -- however, she might not be the only one out because rumor has it that the ladies have all been looking for a substantial pay raise.

But, getting back to Bethenny: It seems to be that she has a lot of directions in which to take her new show. Her business as a celebrity chef with the Skinny Girl line of products could have her doing cooking segments or go in the marketing direction like Apprentice challenges or hang out in Fire Island with the boys like Queer Eye.

On the personal side, there's some talk that the show will focus on her relationship with fiance Jason Hoppy, although in season one he wasn't rushing into marriage, so that may be of limited appeal. Just as long as she doesn't go Octomom and have a brood of babes like Kate.

So, is this the first reality show that has spawned a spin-off? Probably not, but Bravo has been doing a lot of cross-pollinating of reality stars on other reality shows. Last night, for instance, the Flipping Out crew lead by Jeff Lewis, were guests on Top Chef Masters.

That was kind of weird, but nothing as strange as seeing Food Network's Michael Chiarello -- Easy Entertaining with Michael Chriarello -- appearing as a Top Chef Master. It seemed like they were bending over backwards to keep the words Food Network from being said, even though the moment I saw Chirarello my first thought was, "Hey, what's he doing on Bravo?"

Can't wait to see Bethenny's new show, but I don't think Real Housewives of NYC will do that well without her. Shout out to Rick Bayless on Top Chef Masters! I don't watch the Food Network but I do watch PBS and recognized him from Mexico: One Plate At A Time..my fave cooking show!

Not even close.

See the Real World/Road Rules Challenge and VH1's entire line up.

I know Easy Entertaining is still on in reruns during the week, but I don't think Michael Chiarello has made a new show for Food Network in years. Its a shame because I loved his show, it brings back fond memories of watching TV every Saturday morning with my mom.
