Maury Povich investigates peach and pickle phobias

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 16th 2009 5:04PM
I'll confess I can't stand peaches. I like the taste, but just thinking about touching the fuzz makes me shiver. But I don't think I would run out of the room if someone showed me a picture of one. But in one of the clips below from Maury, a man does just that.

And he's not the only one who has these phobias. Seems there are a lot more people out there who are afraid of things like balloons, chickens, and pickles than we thought. Though I wonder if any of these are put-ons. (Urlesque has more.)

I swear I've seen that pickle phobia one. Years ago, though.

Yeah right...

But let's remember the most important thing: it's generating Page Impressions...

Way back in the mid-80s, I did an elaborate sketch on my college radio show parodying TV talk shows, in which I confronted the issue of "toastophobia". With a woman from my dorm deftly playing the "toastophobe", I thought it was a very good bit and it got a good phone response.

20 plus years later, apparently the spoof has become reality.

I SO hate those phobia shows. I think the woman who made the ummmnnn unnnnmm uhmmmmn noises that first show was the most ridiculous thing to watch(can't remember if she was afraid of cotton or chicken either way it was dumb!)
Daughter watches Maury religiously, and I was visiting... lucky me!

I think I speak for many of us when I say: Maury Povich is still on the air?
