Matt Smith shows off his sonic screwdriver in new Doctor Who set pics, video

matt smith doctor whoThe new Doctor Who, Matt Smith, and gal pal Anna Pond (Karen Gillan) seem to be stranded on a beach in more new set photos and a video of the series' first day of shooting. (Fans will notice the Doctor is holding a brand new sonic screwdriver.)

I'm really looking forward to the Doctor's return (or the new Doctor's arrival, however you wish to look at it) in 2010. The first two brilliant hours of Torchwood: Children of Earth have me wanting to dive back into the rich sci-fi world created by Russell T. Davies.

I know things won't be exactly the same with Stephen Moffat now running the show, but a rebirth might be just what the franchise needs after four years and two Doctors. Of course, casting two new leads doesn't mean the Doctor won't be bumping in to some old friends (and foes) once The TARDIS starts jumping through time and space again. I really hope that outfit is just for blending in with a time period and not his new one.
Please, god, that's NOT his outfit, right? That would be the most god awful Dr. Who outfit ever designed.
Especially just after David's great,perfect Who clothes.

Well, at least there isn't a vegetable pinned to his lapel.

Nice troll there... Of course we all know that should say "..the rich sci-fi world created by Sydney Newman and Verity Lambert... a rebirth might be just what the franchise needs after forty-six years and ten Doctors"

Once you get done watching Torchwood you'll feel very differently. All I'll say is I'm glad Doctor Who is out of Davies' hands now, and in much more capable ones.
