Ghost Whisperer gets the video game treatment

Ghost WhispererMid-June, fellow Squadder Danny wrote a list of ten TV shows that deserve to have their own video games. CBS's Ghost Whisperer didn't make Danny's cut. However, the show's premise would provide a good setting for a game. Imagine yourself in Melinda Gordon's shoes trying to help ghosts cross over by finding out who they are, why they won't cross over, and how to make them walk through the light.

CBS and Legacy Interactive thought that it was about time to offer GW fans the chance to step into Melinda's shoes.

The very first Ghost Whisperer computer video game, to be titled "Ghost Whisperer: Shadowlands," will be available in early 2010 and be developed by casual games developer and publisher Legacy Interactive.

As I've teased in my intro, the game will allow players to step into the role of Melinda to help, thanks to her gift of seeing and hearing ghosts, earthbound spirits cross over after having taken care of unfinished business. The storyline will take place in Grandview and the show's characters will be there to help Melinda during her quest.

The game will combine light adventure and hidden object-style game play. Players will need to visit different places and collect various items to solve the five stories feature in the computer game.

What the press release we've received from Legacy Interactive doesn't say is when in the Ghost Whisperer time line this game will fit. It says that Melinda will try to help the ghosts "while trying to live as normal a life as possible with her paramedic husband, Jim."

Does this mean the game will take place before Jim died? Meaning, no appearances from Eli but maybe from Dr. Payne? A lot of fans, myself included, would like the latter to happen! One thing is certain, the game will more than likely not be set in next season's time frame as the show is planning a five-year jump. The press release also doesn't confirm if the actors will provide the voices for the video game characters.

Will you buy the Ghost Whisperer computer video game when it comes out? In which timeframe would you like the action to occur? When Andrea was still around? When Payne knew of Melinda's gift and helped her? Or in last season's timeframe with Jim 2.0 and Eli? Which type of "ghost of the week" stories would you like to see be part of the game?
