The Mighty Boosh come to America

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 23rd 2009 11:00AM
The Mighty BooshJulian Barratt and Noel Fielding, better known to BBC and Adult Swim viewers as Howard Moon and Vince Noir of The Mighty Boosh, hit New York's Bowery Ballroom Tuesday to celebrate the release of the first three seasons of the show on DVD.

The pair will be doing shows in the states until July 29, including Friday at the "Mighty Boosh Bash" at 4th and B in San Diego (they'll also be at Comic Con 2009), a guest spot on Chelsea Lately Monday, and a MySpace Secret Show at the Roxy in L.A. on Tuesday.

The show is fairly new to Adult Swim, having debuted there in March, but judging from a couple of YouTube videos from the New York show, they seem to have developed a fanbase to fill the Bowery without much notice. We have some catching up to do Stateside, and the DVDs should help (stay tuned for my review of the three discs here). And since the Boosh was a stages show before it was a series, any of you lucky enough to be around for one of their stops will get to see a bit of the show's history.

These are both fan videos, so the picture isn't terribly steady, but they give you an idea of the absurdist anarchy that is the Boosh.

Here Howard and Vince do a bit of goofing around before singing (well, kind of singing) a "song" called "Pies."

Another musical number, called "Nanageddon."

Hi! I love Mighty Boosh too, so surrealistic and fun. I've just made a mix of Lady Gaga's "Love Game" with the Mighty Boosh's original dialog. Check it out on my site!: DJ Bread n Butter

Mary Beth: A voice of common sense and reason....

If anything, the reception they got here should push them to FINALLY make a decision on which project to pursue first. Couldn't go to The Bowery, but did attend the signing at Other Music. It'd been obvious, looking at the crowd, that most of us in attendence have already seen all three seasons via UK dvds.

It's time for them to either A) go ahead and tour the States or B) put out something new!

Actually The Boosh have split. After these shows they're going their separate ways for a while

I've seen the live show twice and both times I had to take a break as my ribs were hurting so much lol

You should know not to believe what the Sun says. They're working on an album and are in the early stages of a film. If they were going to split up, I hardly think they'd go through the trouble of doing a publicity tour of America.

I was at the show at the Bowery, and it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The Boosh are the best!

The first seasons isn't my cup of tea but when they move from the zoo, it's gold.

There is a Season 4 in the works from what I've read, so the show isn't over by a long shot. It's smart to finally bring it to America outside of the BBC America and torrent realm.

BBC America aired "The Mighty Boosh" a couple of years ago--that's when I got hooked. I'm enjoying the reruns on Adult Swim and hope to get the DVDs someday.

Was watching rips of the show before it showed up on Adult Swim and love it. But who'd a thunk they show up in the States? The shows been over for a almost 2yrs in England. Not going to CC this year and was pissed when of all things a Boosh panel hits the show.
