Brian Williams and Jon Stewart: Oh, it's on

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 27th 2009 12:27PM
This is from last week but I think it's worth showing today, because when Brian Williams went on The Daily Show they didn't just talk about politics, they got into a sometimes good-natured, sometimes prickly trade of insults (some of Stewart's digs are clearly serious, but Williams can give as good as he gets). They also mention Walter Cronkite and Billy Mays.

Yeah I loved this last week.

"How does it feel to have fallen short"

The problem I have with this interview is that Jon blasted the 24 news networks for not doing their job right before Brian came on and he had to defend himself and his single show for what others did. Williams didn't say whether he offered similar things to the governor but it seemed to be pretty obvious that NBC did something like that. Still - cheap shot if you ask me - but then again if all the news networks would do what Jon Stewart did, meaning fighting with the 'cuffs off, this would be common.

It's like watching kittens when you turn on interviews with politicians and even more it's like watching pitbulls salivating and barking when you turn on the Factor or Countdown.

It's just not journalism. It's tabloid BS.

Brian Williams should be an official correspondent on the show. He's great with Jon.
