'The Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette': Where Are They Now?

by Andrew Scott, posted Jul 27th 2009 6:00AM
Trista and Ryan SutterIf past seasons are any indication, chances are Jillian Harris won't find true love on 'The Bachelorette.'

But while the show's marriage track record is a lousy 1 for 17, many Bachelors and Bachelorettes have gone on to do great things after the final rose ceremony. Some have landed new TV gigs, some have written books, while others have actually made it down the aisle -- albeit, with people not featured on the show.

'THE BACHELOR' ...

Alex MichelAlex Michel ('The Bachelor,' 2002)
Setting the tone for almost every 'Bachelor' and 'Bachelorette,' Michel's relationship with Amanda Marsh ended in 2003 after several months of dating. Still, Michel's appearance on 'The Bachelor' led to a number of media gigs, including a stint as a spokesperson for Match.com. Michel now works as a "romance and proposal expert" for Princess Cruise Line's department of romance.

Aaron BuergeAaron Buerge ('The Bachelor,' 2002)
Buerge asked Helene Eksterowicz to marry him during the series' second-season finale. It was the show's first on-air proposal, followed shortly by the first of many post-'Bachelor' hiccups, when the couple called off the engagement five weeks after the finale aired. Buerge is currently president of the First National Bank in Springfield, Mo., where he resides.

Andrew FirestoneAndrew Firestone ('The Bachelor,' 2003)
Firestone, whose engagement to Jen Schefft ended in 2003, made a few TV appearances on shows like 'Celebrity Poker Showdown' and 2008's 'Billionaire's Car Club,' which he hosted. That same year, he proved that some bachelors can find love when he married actress and model Ivana Bozilovic. The two welcomed a baby boy, Adam, in March 2009.

Bob GuineyBob Guiney ('The Bachelor,' 2003)
Arguably the show's most popular bachelor, Guiney quickly bounced back from his split with Estella Gardinier by marrying soap star Rebecca Budig ('All My Children') in 2004. He also wrote a book (2003's 'What a Difference a Year Makes: How Life's Unexpected Setbacks Can Lead to Unexpected Joy'), and appeared on shows like 'The View' and '3 Men and a Chick Flick' before joining TLC's 'Date My House.' Guiney also sings for Band From TV, a celebrity charity band that includes Hugh Laurie and James Denton.

Jesse PalmerJesse Palmer ('The Bachelor,' 2004)
After his relationship with Jessica Bowlin ended in 2004, the ex-quarterback returned to football, finding new success as a broadcast journalist. Palmer now covers college football for ESPN and ESPSN2.

Byron VelvickByron Velvick ('The Bachelor,' 2004)
Though still engaged, Velvick and winner Mary Delgado have ultimately proven to be the anti-Trista and Ryan. In 2007, Delgado was arrested on a domestic battery charge against Velvick (it was later dropped), and arrested again one year later for public intoxication. Nowadays, Velvick can be seen 'Going Coastal' on ESPN2's hit fishing series.

Charlie O'ConnellCharlie O'Connell ('The Bachelor,' 2005)
Charlie and Sarah Brice broke up not long after the show ended in 2005. But a second chance was born in late 2008 when the couple announced they were getting back together. "We're not taking each other for granted," O'Connell told PEOPLE.

Travis Lane StorkTravis Lane Stork ('The Bachelor,' 2006)
His relationship with schoolteacher Sarah Stone may not have lasted very long, but Travis' television career remains as healthy as ever. The 'ER' doctor now serves as the lead host on the daytime medical talk show 'The Doctors,' which began in 2007.

Lorenzo BorgheseLorenzo Borghese ('The Bachelor,' 2006)
In a move right out of the Jason Mesnick handbook, Prince Lorenzo reportedly dated runner-up Sadie Murray following his break-up with his chosen bachelorette Jennifer Wilson. Lorenzo was also voted America's least favorite bachelor during ABC's 'Where Are They Now' special in 2008.

Andy BaldwinAndy Baldwin ('The Bachelor,' 2007)
Andy and Tessa Horst lasted eight months, which in 'Bachelor' world might as well be a lifetime. In between various charitable work, Andy also dated actress Marla Maples and was named one of PEOPLE's hottest bachelors in 2008.

Brad WomackBrad Womack ('The Bachelor,' 2007)
Brad gave new meaning to 'The Bachelor' when he dumped both Jenni Croft and future 'Bachelorette' DeAnna Pappas in the finale. These days, Brad spends his time in his hometown of Austin, Texas, where he owns multiple bars.

Brad WomackMatt Grant ('The Bachelor,' 2008)
This English bachelor was engaged to Shayne Dahl Lamas, daughter of Lorenzo Lamas, until July 2008. As of March, 2009, Grant has been dating publicist Sarah Robarts.

Jason MesnickJason Mesnick ('The Bachelor,' 2009)
Mesnick created a media frenzy during March's 'After the Final Rose' special, in which he dumped winner Melissa Rycroft live on TV, then announced he still had feelings for runner-up Molly Malaney. After weathering the intense tabloid coverage that followed, Mesnick and Malaney appeared on July's 'Men Tell All' special and confirmed they are still together and see marriage in their future.

'THE BACHELORETTE' ...

Trista SutterTrista Rehn ('The Bachelorette,' 2003)
Trista Sutter, America's first 'Bachelorette,' is also the franchise's biggest success story. She married winner Ryan Sutter on live TV in front of more than 25 million people; the couple now have two kids, Maxwell and Blakesley. Trista has also made numerous TV appearances, including season 1 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' where she was voted out first. But hey -- at least she's still lucky in love.

Meredith PhillipsMeredith Phillips ('The Bachelorette,' 2004)
Meredith had much more of a 'Bachelor'-style ending when her engagement to Ian McKee went south in 2005. She's since found better success in the culinary world with her book 'The Date Night Cookbook: 25 Easy-to-Cook Menus for the Busy Couple,' released in 2008. Perhaps Trista set the bar a little too high.

Jennifer SchefftJennifer Schefft ('The Bachelorette,' 2005)
Sort of like the female version of Brad Womack, Jen turned down both John Paul Merritt and winner Jerry Ferris at the end of season 3. But in May 2009, she finally found her man when she married Joe Waterman in a Chicago ceremony.

Deanna PappasDeAnna Pappas ('The Bachelorette,' 2008)
DeAnna picked professional snowboarder Jesse Csincsak over Jason Mesnick, though their relationship didn't last too long after the finale. Today, she can be seen as the co-host of Lifetime's 'Get Married' (can you say "irony"?).

I'm happy that Brad chose Emily...I pray they work through everything and end up together, they are great together, and I'd hate to see either of them broken hearted! They both deserve love in their lives, and the family they've both wanted and desired, and waited for so long!! It's hard when the world makes up so many things, good and bad, just focus on eachother and what you have, ignore the outside forces, and you'll make it!!
