Diane Keaton Lands HBO Comedy & More TV News

Diane KeatonOscar winner Diane Keaton will try to revive the feminist movement in a new half-hour comedy series, scheduled to air on HBO.

Also in the news today: NBC announces plans to remake the Emmy-winning series 'The Rockford Files,' while MTV reveals when 'The Hills'' Kristin Cavallari will make her official debut.

The project, from writer Marti Noxon, will feature the Oscar winner as a feminist icon who launches a sexually explicit magazine for women in an attempt to revitalize the movement. Well, la-di-da. David ShoreNBC has announced plans to remake the hit '70s series 'The Rockford Files.' 'House' creator David Shore is on board to oversee the project, although no word yet on who will play the title role, which won James Garner an Emmy in 1977. [Variety]

Kristin Cavallari'The Hills' has locked in a premiere date. Season 6 of the ongoing reality series will debut Sept. 29 on MTV -- this time, with 'Laguna Beach''s Kristin Cavallari in the lead. Someone who surely won't be tuning in: Lauren Conrad. [MTV]


EmmysThe Emmys will reportedly cut eight awards from this year's live telecast, airing Sept. 20 on CBS. Among the rumored categories include Outstanding TV movie and Miniseries and Writing for a Dramatic Series, according to sources. Taped acceptance speeches will then be shown during the ceremony. Farrah FawcettFarrah Fawcett will be featured on an upcoming 'E! True Hollywood Story' special. The hour-long telecast will reportedly include interviews with friends, and is said to feature an exclusive look back at Fawcett's teenage years. The episode airs Wed., Aug. 5 at 10PM. Donal Logue'Grounded for Life' star Donal Logue is set to star on FX's 'Terriers,' a new comedy about two immature P.I.s who solve crimes together. Logue will play the "talkative" Hank, who is -- among other things -- afraid of becoming senile. [Hollywood Reporter]


Christopher GorhamChristopher Gorham ('Ugly Betty,' 'Harper's Island') will co-star with Piper Perabo on 'Covert Affairs,' a new spy thriller from USA Network. Gorham will play CIA agent Auggie Anderson, a blind man who helps Walker (Perabo) start her new job. [Hollywood Reporter]


Franka PotenteSources say 'Run Lola Run' star Franka Potente will guest-star on the two-hour season premiere of 'House.' The episode, which will reportedly revolve around Dr. House's (Hugh Laurie) fight to recover from hallucinations, premieres Mon., Sept. 21 at 8PM. [E!]
