TLC president makes a Jon & Kate statement - TCA Report

by Joel Keller, posted Jul 30th 2009 4:56PM
Jon & KateThe Discovery networks are up right now and their panels are going at light speed, about ten minutes per. Before the TLC section, network president Eileen O'Neill made a statement about the upcoming episodes of Jon & Kate Plus 8.

First off... goodbye interview couch! Now the estranged couple will interview individually on single chairs. Whew... dodged that bullet. As far as how the rest of the show will go, here's what she said:

"Our approach is to cover the family with great care and thoughtfulness. We never said they were perfect. we will continue to capture family's journey in sincere and sensitive way.

"These are two parents that love their kids more than ever. We will show themseparately parenting. Kate puts tent up in backyard and gets advice from one of the children. Jon struggles in kitchen trying to make pizza."

As far as what role the "new people and places" in the couple's lives -- code for "new girlfriends/boyfriends and Upper West Side apartments" -- will take in the show, she said that "we'll be taking it on a case by case basis."

Lately, Kate is dressing where you can see cleavage and her straps are not tight enough on her shoulders. What is she trying to do on a "family" show? Last week the filmer was "above" the family at the small table literally looking down on Kate and the Sundress with the too loose straps.

I don't believe anything Kate is saying.

It is getting to the point that Child Protective Services might need to get involved to protect the 8 children until Jon and Kate can act like "adults".

I have always wondered why Kate's parents are never mentioned in this show. Are they estranged from the family; and, if so, why? I thought her father was a minister. That speaks volumes about Kate if she has nothing to do with her family.....

Ms. O'Neill's comments about showing Jon and Kate parenting their children is amusing. Kate says she will be doing something new and struggles putting up a tent for the kids. I'll bet she's struggling. Kate never did anything but give orders to Jon, and he did the actual tasks and playing with the kids. He shouldn't have trouble fixing pizza since he had to fix breakfast for the kids so Kate could sleep in. She is always "just exhausted".

I hope TLC will keep Kate and Jon's love life out of the show; none of us need to see Jon's bimbos and Kate has shown that her kids are her number 1 priority and not the opposite sex like Jon has done. Kate will be a role model for all Single Parents to look up to, while Jon will destroy the image of many good male Single Parents that are raising their children on their own.
