Game show news: Pyramid, Let's Make A Deal, and ... GSN Radio?

Let's Make A DealI've been a strong believer in bringing game shows back to daytime television. If soap operas continue to die, I certainly want to see game shows in there instead of another daytime talk show about nuns who cheat on their transvestite cousins.

When it was announced that Guiding Light wouldn't be coming back, it was rumored that game shows might be taking its place on the CBS lineup. Now it looks like that's true.BuzzerBlog is reporting that new versions of both Pyramid and Let's Make A Deal are in the running for the slot, and that an order for the show(s) went out today. We could either see both shows (30 minutes for each show) or a one-hour version of Let's Make A Deal. There's a casting call for Pyramid on Craigslist.

In other game show news, Bob Goen and Marianne Curan are hosting something called GSN Radio every Monday through Friday from 1PM to 5PM. I haven't heard it yet but it could be something worth checking out if you're a game show fanatic.

Actually, The Price Is Right should move to 3PM. CBS needs to compete against "ABC's The View" by airing a similar show to "The View" at the 11AM slot.

I'm surprised CBS is keeping that slot. As NBC soaps died, they seemingly turned every open slot over to the affiliates.

Well, all the trades are saying tonight that "LMAD" will replace "GL" and will have Wayne Brady as host, according to Monty Hall.

Press Your Luck was a great gameshow! I used to love watching it as a kid. I can't believe that in the age of remakes that no one's brought it back.

GSN remade "Press Your Luck" a few years back as "Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck". They changed it enough that it sucked big fat monkey chunks.

GSN Radio has been around for months, if not longer. In New York it runs on Sundays on tape delay. It's a mix of quickie games, some challenging, some easy. Not a bad listen for a game show fan, but there's lots of filler. The best game show on the radio (or anywhere!) remains "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me".

I'd be much more interested in a new Pyramid than a new LMAD.
