The network is currently eyeing a 13-episode order for the series, about a man stuck between his girlfriend (Milano) and best friend, played by 'Worst Week''s Kyle Bornheimer. [Hollywood Reporter]

Kara DioGuardiFox has confirmed reports that judge Kara DioGuardi will return to 'American Idol' next season. "She is a breath of fresh air, and her passion for music and her understanding of talent is invaluable," said executive producer Simon Fuller. Consider this Paula Abdul's wake-up call. Flashpoint'Flashpoint' will return for nine episodes later this season, according to CBS President Nina Tassler. Tassler revealed the news at yesterday's TCA press conference, adding there are "no plans" to film more episodes "but we certainly can if we want to." 'Flashpoint' is currently without a timeslot. Ann GillespieAnn Gillespie will return to '90210' for multiple episodes. Gillespie will reprise the role of Jackie, the infamous mom who attempts to make nice with daughters Kelly and Silver, beginning this October. Good luck with that. [Ausiello Files]

John WellsOver 100 writers are protesting a decision to cut eight awards from the this year's Emmy telecast, airing Sept. 20 on CBS. Among the high-profile writers include John Welles ('Southland'), David Shore ('House') and 'Lost' scribes Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Meanwhile, executive producer Don Mischer and host Neil Patrick Harris have since defended the changes. "We're just trying to edit down the standing and the hugging," Harris said. [Live Feed]
