Legend of the Seeker second season on its way

by John Scott Lewinski, posted Aug 5th 2009 9:30AM
Kahlan is a confessor witch aiding the hero in Legend of the Seeker. In a move that should bring some veteran dragon slayers out of their parents' basements long enough to turn on the TV, Legend of the Seeker is headed back for a second season.

According to producing partners Disney and ABC, the syndicated fantasy adventure show will return this fall. A descendant of the Hercules and Xena food family, Seeker tells the story of a woodsman whose life "gets turned upside down after discovering that he has a profound destiny to fulfill as the Seeker."

It's a burdensome duty that thrusts him into an unfamiliar world of magic, sorcery, evil and heaving wenches. The Seeker fights to protect innocent lives by confronting dangerous and evil forces because that's generally what heroes do in these sword and sorcery tales.

He's joined on his huzzah-worthy quests by a witch (Bridget Regan, right) and Yoda Gandalf an old wizard to teach and guide him. The series is an adaptation of author Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth book series.

Shot in New Zealand, the new syndicated season will include the standard 22 episodes.

According to the new season's announcement this season our hero will "encounter an array of rich and compelling new characters, both good and evil, and they will be tested in ways that they never could have imagined."

Hoisting a leather tankard full of honeyed wine is optional during viewing.

(WARNING THIS MAY OR MAY NOT CONTAIN SPOILERS ABOUT THE BOOK....I also should have said that for my last comment but i forgot, Sorry!)Umm, yeah this is to terry. If you did watch the show and read the book, then you would know they had a different plot in mind for the show than what was in the book. The reason most likely being is that it is a family show, hence in the they cut out all the violence(the murders, the adultery, the(i hate this word)rape(which happened to the confessors and most any poor damsel in the book. So they had to make a completely different version of the book for the show to make it family friendly for they could not show all of.....that. So think of this show as a clean sub storyline to the book, one in which certain things were changed to make it seem more family oriented, and where it could relate more to the cleaner back stories and plots of the evil peoples(daharans....man i think thats how you spell their name, i havent read the book in about 3 years or so) and to make it seem that the back stories of the good guys werent too.....gruesome, to say the least.

Ummm yeah, The woman is not a witch but is a confessor like the previous ppl have said, the reason i know is because ive read most the books(stopped when kahlan or khalan can never remember how to spell it, is captured and all memory of her was lost, It was just too tiresome and it has gone through i think what 3 or 4 books without anyone believing richard that khalan/kahlan is alive and he knew her, they all knew her? And yes im a book nerd, i love fantasy adventure books) And seen almost all the first season. But one thing i want to ask, when is the second season coming? Any dates specified? And also to the ones who have not read the book, the only thing they took from it was the characters and there back stories(well some of the back stories as the sisters of light did not raise khalan/kahlan, but her father or something did, for it was the last wish of her mother......Right i do talk alot about somethings i love and or like, so i must somehow conclude this.....but how. Right, ok the other things they changed was the book of counted shadows it was not destroyed but taken, second denna did die in the book, third he did not dream of denna after denna told him to but he kept dreaming of khalan/kahlan, ummm.....fourth how are they going to make the scenes for the second bad guy besides rahl, you know the ones who have read the book, because of how violent this guy is which was pretty bad, right and to the fifth one...i hope, and also all the confessors where dead along with khalan/kahlan's sister, and so were all the wizards save one who helped raechel/rachel(however you spell it) get the third box and hide it(which cost him his life leaving zedd as the only wizard....well the only one from the orders, alive) and raechel/rachel lived with chase not the head cook lady person, so that covers what i can think of with the book....oh wait, and the confessors power caused a shock wave and made the ones around here fall, not her, also it took a few hours or a day(cant remember)for her to use her power again, while other confessors it took days or sometimes longer, and also she was the mother confessor before she went into westlands looking for richard. Well i think that covers it, wait one more thing, richards mother went with zedd into the westlands where he was then born, but she died in a fire(just like in the show except that was his fake mother) which is why richard had a scar on his knee or something, and which made richard have no family alive besides zedd, his grandfather. Hmmmm, alright so im not done but for reasons as to not make you think im obsessed(which i do get when talking about things im passionate about)i am saying good bye, yes i am finally saying good bye.

So Terry, worst show made form a book? Maybe you should learn how to spell. I didn't read the book but the show was great and I can't wait for the next season to start!

The show's first season was interesting, at times exciting but not always fun.

Here is my take on it with a little humor and lots o' pics if you are interested.

Why aren't more niche shows taking the syndication approach? I think we all know just by reading the premise (I will admit I have not seen a single episode) Seeker would have been canceled by now, even on Syfy. Another good example is Andromeda. There's some secret pool of money that allows syndication-only series to live, and I want in on it!

Anyway, I think that would be a good basis for an article here, if y'all are interested.

Wait... I thought The Seeker was a new reality show on ESPN where a camera crew follows around a quidditch player for a whole season.

I would point out that she's not a witch but a confessor, but that would make me too much of a nerd.
