Howard Stern's wife on DWTS?

by Brad Trechak, posted Aug 15th 2009 3:01PM
Beth ODancing With The Stars continues to dig through the muck of those who barely qualify for the word "star" to fill its line-up. Now rumor has it that Howard Stern's wife Beth will be appearing on the show.

Using "Beth O" is pushing the envelope in terms of actual "celebrity." I recognize that to have a show called Dancing With The Stars, you need to use actual stars, but it doesn't seem like Beth quite qualifies. But she's more famous than I am, even if it's by marriage; who am I to judge?

So please note: You can become a celebrity by DWTS standards even by being the trophy wife (or husband) of another actual celebrity. It actually works. You don't even have to be a trophy. Ask Tom Arnold. Say, why hasn't he been on Dancing With The Stars? What other marriage partners (trophy or not) could they scope out for the show?

I think DWTS is starting to make the shift from "Has beens" to "Yet to Be's".

Howard has pluged the show for years and now this is just some payback, sad that fans are going to have to put up with more betho and DWTS talk on the stern show . as for her being a "Star", before Reality tv she was a bit player at best, now with stern and poor tv show she can get up with the best of the D-list

The below d-list definition of star is not new to DWTS; nbc in their attempt to have the most inexpensive television schedule has always done this. I think the far worst example was the wife of a indicted politician

She doesn't qualify as a "star". Does she want to be a star, yes. Dancing with the stars is just picking anyone they can get, who knows what they're qualifications are.
I would have to say, very few people would know who Beth was before she married Howard, and in areas that people don't listen to Howard, no one would even know her. No offense to her, she's obviously trying to get known, she's attractive, and bubbly, but no Meryl Streep. It was fun watching DWTS when they did have some known actors and actresses on, it showed they were real people, but it's becoming boring.

Maybe before you blog, you could have googled her name to see if she did anything else besides marry Stern. I wouldn't go so far as to call this fact-checking, but basic research goes a long way to prevent you from embarrassing yourself.

Actually, wouldn't Heather Mills qualify as a "trophy ex-wife"? LOL ;)
