At least that's what it sounds like 24 EP Evan Katz told EW's Ausiello. According to Katz, some of the things they have planned for the FOX drama's eighth season don't involve a Jack/Audrey reunion.

Can you blame them? 24 has had some doosie plots in the past that are pretty hard to swallow, but the last we saw of Audrey was at the very end of season six, and she didn't look so good. If she somehow ended up in the fold again next year (which takes place in New York City), I can't see people being too happy about it.

Plus, there's the issue of the budding romance between Jack and Renee (Annie Wersching). Assuming Audrey doesn't already have a broken heart from being tortured by the Chinese, seeing Jack lock lips with Renee would surely do it. That, and apparently Jack is going to be super happy - not the dark soul that Audrey fell in love with.

Seeing as how this could potentially be 24's last season, I'm OK with this news. Sometimes when a show enters the home stretch, characters are brought back more for nostalgic reasons rather than organically via plot and that's never a good thing. Last we saw Audrey, she was a vegetable and I'm fine with remembering her that way.
