The Wonder Twins are coming to Smallville (not a joke!)

by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 18th 2009 8:02AM
Wonder TwinsYes, at first I thought this was indeed a joke, but it looks like it's true: The Wonder Twins are coming to The CW's Smallville.

You remember The Wonder Twins, Zan and Jayna, right? They were on The Super Friends and could turn into anything in the world just by touching their hands together. They would say things like "Form of...a tampon!" and then they would change into a tampon. This could also be used to turn into animals, various food products, and inanimate objects like hammers and shoes. They'll be played by Warehouse 13's Allison Scagliotti and 7th Heaven's David Gallagher.

So ... is this a good idea or just ridiculous?

A good idea? Smallville hasn't had a good idea since someone in the writers room said, "hey we should give Lana superpowers!"

Zayna could turn into any animal, while brother Zann was stuck with the decidedly lamer power of turning into different forms of water like a wave or rain. As a funny promo on Cartoon Network used to joke, "I can be beaten by a sponge... and it doesn't even have to be an EVIL sponge!"

Why not bring back Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog? They were always my favorite characters on Super Friends!

This only further makes the point that Smallville has reached the point of no return and should go away after this season. The series has always played fast and loose with the Superman mythology, and with the exception of the Chloe character they've pretty much sucked at it. Now, they're pulling in two characters creted specifically for the campy Super Friends? Come on!

This is Smallville. It should be expected.

Let's just hope the Smallville producers modernize it a bit where the camp is left behind... they've seemed to already do that with many of the Superman-universe's familiar faces.

Not that camp is good... mind you... there's just very little room for it in this series.

Look this is not a reallity show! It is a show about a superhero everything on the show is far fetched there is no part of this show that is real. I am a fan I have always been a fan I love anything that the writers put on the show it's fun and that is why I tune in. Some people take this stuff way to serious I love the comic books and all these shows but people it is not real chill and enjoy it for what it is. FUN

NERD ALERT!!!!!

The girl could only change into the form of an animal.
The boy could only change into a form of water (although he could become anything made out of ice)

Oh, c'mon! I watched it a lot as a kid, okay?!?!? DON'T JUDGE ME!
