A second season of Warehouse 13 to debut next summer

warehouse 13 syfyWarehouse 13 is turning out to be one of Syfy's biggest hits. The show's July premiere scored 3.5 million viewers, and the numbers have remained steady throughout the summer, influencing the cable network to green light a second season. Syfy has ordered 13 episodes for season two, which is set to premiere next summer. That number could go up if the show continues to perform well.

It looks like Syfy's decision to make Warehouse 13 its flagship summer program is paying off. The show is averaging a respectable 3.7 million viewers a week and, surprisingly, almost half of its viewership is female.

The premiere episode of Warehouse 13 showed a lot of promise thanks to a goofy sci-fi premise – two mismatched Secret Service agents search for supernatural artifacts for storage in a secret government warehouse – and some very talented performers like Saul Rubinek, Eddie McClintock, and Joanne Kelly.

The show's artifact-of-the-week plots started getting old by episode two, but last Tuesday's ep, "Implosion," finally broke away from the formula with an engaging episode that delved into warehouse caretaker Artie's dark past and his relationship with the two agents. Hopefully, the show will deliver more episodes like "Implosion," and more cool sci-fi gadgets, in the future

I've bailed on its neither fish (X-Files) nor fowl (Fringe) storyline, and the Secret Service must be pissed at how these characters make them look. But, it's better than more wrestling or ghost crap on syfy.

I couldn't get through the first 10 minutes of the premiere ep, but maybe I'll give it another go...it just seemed incredibly dated.

Oh goodie! I've really been enjoying Warehouse 13, artifact-of-the-week as well as really good episodes like "Implosion". Glad it's coming back!
