America's Got Talent: Results show three
(S04E18) "The most electrifying show yet!" - Nick, about last night's performance showNick is right. Last night was electrifying, even if a few acts got X'd. It was one of the best show's we've had so far this season.
As I noted in my review of the performance episode, I expected Jeffrey Ou to lose some votes because viewers weren't able to hear him play the piano in the second part of his acts. But a few of our site visitors said they voted for him because he wasn't given a fair chance.
Will Jeffrey get another chance by moving on to the Top 20? Results coming up!
First up are Bri Bernstein and Jeffrey Ou. It looks like America may have indeed given him votes so he could have a second chance! Ou is moving to the Top 20!!! He is an incredible pianist, and it'll be great to have a musician as part of the Top 20. However, if he goes back to more classical performances, he surely won't move forward, as he won't be mainstream enough for America. I'm bummed that Bri didn't get a Top 20 slot, because she was one of the top performers last night.
Since America's Got Talent has to stretch the results show to fill one hour (can't they make results shows be 30 minutes?), we are treated to a performance from Ashley Tisdale (official site). She is definitely growing up! Tisdale sported a sexy outfit and brown hair, which is light years away from her Zach & Cody look! Do you think she was lip-singing? She had a full band and backup singers, but it sounded at times as if her voice was part of the backup voices, as well as being the lead. I must be imagining things! Nonetheless, her new single is not bad at all. It shows that she is becoming a woman, changing style and range, etc.
Next up are Jay Mattioli, Dave Johnson and Lawrence Beamen. When Nick reads the recap of each performance, Lawrence gets the most applause from the crowd. This gives a good idea of who America voted for, eh? Nick announces that only one is going to the Top 20 and that Dave Johnson is going home. As expected, Lawrence Beamen is going through to the next round. Too bad for Jay. If only he hadn't performed a mixture of tricks we've seen over and over again, we could have had two magic tricks in the Top 20!
Marcus & The Serenades and Mario & Jenny are brought center stage. I didn't like seeing both there, as I wanted the two acts to go through. Out of the two, I'm satisfied with Mario & Jenny being in the Top 20, as they offer a unique act and are extremely entertaining. Let's hope Marcus doesn't quit singing, because he has an amazing voice and finally found the right Serenades ... although he would probably do best as a solo artist.
Before we get more results, Daughtry (official site) is up next. It's a great performance. Nick asks Chris Daughtry how it was to be a contestant in a talent show, and he said "hell." He definitely has it right; although it can be a good hell, too. It's just a lot of work and a lot of stress.
G-Force, U4RIA, and Hairo Torres are up next. Only one of them is going through. G-Force are told they are going home. Hairo Torres is moving through!
This means that FootworKINGz and Pixies Mystère will face the judges since they came fifth and sixth in the votes. Both offered amazing performances this week, so it won't be an easy task to pick who goes through. My money is on FootworKINGz. The crowed seems to agree. Sharon votes for FootworKINGz since the Pixies are young and still have loads to learn and experience. Piers says it's difficult because both are exceptional talent in their age group. Piers votes for the KINGz, as well, as he sees they have a better chance. It's a done deal, FootworKINGz are moving on. The Hoff confirms he would have voted the same. For once, I agree with the all three judges!
I got three out of five right this week. How did you do? It was funny to hear Piers say that he thinks America made a few weird decisions this week ... how about the decisions the judges made since the first episode?
So far, the Top 20 is composed of:
- 4 singing acts: Kevin Skinner, Voices of Glory, The Texas Tenors, Lawrence Beaman
- 4 dance acts: Arcadian Broad, Fab 5, Hairo Torres, FootworKINGz
- 2 acrobatic/acrobatic dance acts: Acrodunk, Paradizo Dance
- 1 magic act: Drew Thomas Magic
- 1 comedic act: Grandma Lee
- 2 variety acts: Tony Hoard and Rory, Mario & Jenny
- 1 music act: Jeffrey Ou
