Summer Glau lands recurring role on Whedon's Dollhouse
Fox has confirmed that Summer Glau is heading back to work for Firefly/Serenity creator Joss Whedon with a recurring role on Dollhouse. Whedon told EW in May that he was writing a part for Glau, but he didn't spill any details about her role on the show's upcoming second season. He said he didn't want her to play a "Doll," because that would be too obvious. Now, after a few early reports hit the web, Fox has offered up some details about Glau's connection to the Dollhouse.
Will she be playing a Dollhouse client? An active? A cyborg? ... OK, she's definitely not playing a cyborg this time. (At least we don't think she is.) Head after the jump for the answer.
Glau will join Dollhouse in the recurring role of Bennett, a Dollhouse employee who shares a past with Eliza Dushku's Echo. Reports say Glau will show up in episode five and will recur throughout the season. Glau joins Whedon vets Amy Acker, Alan Tudyk and Felicia Day, who have all appeared on Dollhouse. Angel's Alexis Denisof is also slated to guest star next season as Daniel Perrin, a U.S. senator trying to track down the organization that runs the Dollhouse.
As most TV Squad readers know, I was a big fan of Glau's work on Fox's great but short-lived Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which was paired up with Dollhouse last season on Friday nights. Glau showed some surprising range in some of those TSCC eps, and I hope we'll get to see another side of her once Bennett appears on Dollhouse.
