U2 reportedly to join Megan Fox for the SNL season premiere

U2 - It looks like Megan Fox hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live is all but officially confirmed by the folks behind the show. And now we've gotten word that U2 will be the first musical guest for the new season of SNL. They're in the midst of their U2 360 world tour promoting their latest album, No Line on the Horizon.

I don't know if U2 has the same kind of pull on the kids today as they have had on my generation through the years, but in my eyes this is a pretty significant "get" for one of NBC's marquee shows.

And they're getting Megan Fox at possibly the hottest point of her young career, fresh off of the latest Transformers and just before her starring role in a sexy thriller.

Buzz and anticipation will be high, because let's face it, people dig hot chicks using sex to murder. Look back at Species. And speaking of looking back, U2 has been one of the biggest bands on the planet for the past two decades. Bono is both beloved and reviled for his outspoken views, making him one of the most recognizable men on the planet.

All of this combines to create a great combination of fresh (Megan Fox) and classic (U2). Reaching out across generations to pull in as many peepers as possible. Add to this their added exposure with Weekend Update Thursday, featuring Amy Poehler, and SNL is doing everything they possibly can to make sure they stay relevant and talked about in this non-election year.

SNL even hired two more females to try and find that next breakout estrogen-filled star, and to give Kristen Wiig a break from time to time. Michaela Watkins showed some potential last season, but it looks like they're going to go with the "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" strategy to find a breakout female star right away.

Pay them enough they'll show up anywhere. I mean they sold U2 iPods and now they are whoring out blackberries. $$ talks.
