Jay Leno's set reminds me of ...

by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 16th 2009 11:29AM
Leno set
Watching The Jay Leno Show the other night, I was trying to figure out what his set reminded me of. Not the main stage where he does his monologue or the area where the band plays (which is so far away it seems like another zip code), I'm talking about the chairs where he interviews his guest. Leno made a big deal about how he wouldn't have a desk, as if that's innovative (and it's not true either - he uses a desk for "Headlines"), and the chairs and end tables he's using remind me of something.

Movieline.com has it all figured out: it's an airport!

I waited and waited to see jays new show. IT IMMEDIATLY pissed me (and others I have spoken to) that he even gave kenye airtime. If jay had to stick his "chin' in this mess, he should have invited taylor, NOT kenye. Further, he gave this racist pig a chance to look sorry, THEN gave him the chance to sing ! As far as I am conerned jay sold out! I am now even having trouble deciding IF I will continue watching his show. As for Kenye's mother, he has rode on a wave of sympathy, "NOT A SPEC OF TALENT" since she died needlessly. Folks may remember two different doctors refused to do "needless breast augmentation surgery" on her due to weak heart. She rolled the dice against medical advice for a chance to dress up her breasts. Its time this whole family was OUT of the news. Where are Al Sharpton & jessie jackson now? Us white folks have a black racist all ove the news and noone to call him what he is...a racist

I always watched Jay on the Tonight Show, instead of Letterman. But now, I don't know. Jay, your set is way too big. Kevin is now an afterthought being so far away. And your hair...why are you parting it on the other side now? Bring back the desk. Those arm chairs are ridiculous. And that car wash stint...BAD!!! You're not going to make it if you don't make some quick changes.

First off, I would like to say people like Kanye raised and influenced by their mothers; value their mothers praise and opinions. Jay was correct in asking him that question. I would have asked. Jay was also influenced by his Mom, he knows exactly how she would react and what she would say. As for having controversial guests such as Mr. Moore, awesome! He comes from my era, we like change but change has to be good for all not just the wealthy. We believe in taking a stand for our beliefs. Keep up the good work Michael. Remember everyone, Michael Moores new film out on October 2, 2009. You would all benefit from seeing it. Like your not thinking like he is on the subjects already.

For 17 yrs, I enjoyed Jay at 11:35 every night on The Tonight Show; it was not easy to turn my tv on to see him in the time slot belonging to Johnny Carson, but it happens, time passes, people change and change is good. I found Jay entertaining, funny with clean language, and guests by far, are always unpredictable. I remember Arsenio as well, he should come back to prime time. People squawking about how the set doesn't look like it should, nothing should look like the Tonight Show, hello, it's change. Do you feel the same way when you buy a new computer, cell phone, change your clothing? Should it always look the same to feel right? I see kids walking around in bell bottoms, and I want to scream, it's over. I lived those days, I was very fortunate. You can't bring back something or someone because you feel like it should be a certain way. Young kids would be screaming at the top of their lungs at us 50-60 yr old's to hide our bodies and grow up...in the 70's it was see through blouses, mini mini skirts and go go boots, you would be laughing at us if we tried to keep up what we enjoyed from our era. Time passes we move on and we remember. Just because Jay said there would be no desk, doesn't mean there won't be one, again, how many times have you said, I won't do that again? yeah right. We're all human. We say things we don't mean and mean things we don't say. We says things without thinking, then realize we never should have said it. Too late! Yeah right, like you never did that either. Those who are critical of others have been criticized by many. Change your attitude and you change the world around you. Viewers seeing similarities should take that as a compliment to other talk shows. As for the back drop, I like it, it's like your waiting for a friend at the airport; you chat; they get on the jet and leave. Then you hop in your car, on the way you think, "wish I could have stayed longer or another friend was coming through." As for it being spread out, that is how it is at an airport. I am sure they will have a daytime airport back drop, and who says the back drop has to remain the same. Maybe they will change it in three months and keep changing it thereafter, who knows. The feeling of meeting a friend at the airport is still the same, wishing we had more friends to greet, with Leno we will. Thanks Jay for many more years to come.

Leno and Letterman are Johny Carson wannabees. I never watch either anymore. Their adolescent humor, vulgarities and personal attacks are neither funny or entertaining. Bad taste is the most complimentary thing I can say about them.

If you think Leno is the greatest I believe you need to get out more often and meet people with personality...

If you ever want to make a likeness of Jay out of clay...mold the clay into an oval shape...take your fist and slam it into the clay...all done

The Tonight Show II at 9:00 central time is just awful. People want good, solid drama shows at that time, not reality TV, not game shows, not talk shows. Stick a fork in this thing.
