What To Watch: September 21-28

'House' (Monday, 8 pm, Global/Fox)

I understand why 'House' is so popular, really I do. Hugh Laurie is a great actor, and House is a great character. The supporting cast is fantastic. The writing is decent. But I'm still sort of amazed that the enthusiasm has brought us to a sixth season. Six years of watching the same essential plot line play out episode after episode. But tonight might just be different. In this 2-hour premiere, House is in the loony bin, matching wits with his attending physician, played by Andre Braugher ('Homicide'), who isn't inclined to let House out.House (Monday, 8 pm, Global/Fox)

Also This Week:

September 21 - 'Heroes' (10 pm, Global/NBC)

Directly following 'House's return, 'Heroes' is also super-sized for its return. If I watched it, it would be two hours of my life I would never get back, but if you follow the show - a feat of either supreme intelligence or intense denial - have at it.

September 23 - 'Mercy' (8 pm, Citytv/NBC)

Originally slated for a mid-season debut, 'Mercy' is a hospital workplace drama centering on three young nurses, including perpetual guest star Michelle Trachtenberg. If you like 'ER', 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Private Practice', you'll probably like this too.

September 25 - 'Dollhouse' (9 pm, Global/Fox)

Joss Whedon has always known how to pack a guest-star punch, and this season of 'Dollhouse' promises to be no exception. Tonight, 'Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber joins 'BSG's Tahmoh Penikett on the show, and also joins with Echo (Eliza Dushku) in holy matrimony. Keep watching this fall for appearances by Summer Glau, Keith Carradine and many more.
