The CW has confirmed that Heather Locklear will officially reprise her role as Amanda Woodward on 'Melrose Place,' beginning Nov. 17.

According to E!, Locklear will become the fifth original cast member to appear on the CW remake, joining the previously cast Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton, whose character, Sydney Andrews, died in the pilot.

Locklear first joined Fox's 'Melrose' during season 1, and remained on the show until the series finale in 1999. The last time we saw Amanda, she had faked her own death, then married Peter (Jack Wagner) on a remote tropical island (check out more 'Melrose Place' episodes on Slash Control).Heather Locklear Returning to Melrose PlaceShe's baaaack!

Many have credited Locklear with saving the original 'Melrose' from cancellation, so the question remains: Will she save the remake as well? Much like the original, 'Melrose 2.0' has struggled to find an audience, with only 2.3 million viewers tuning in for the Sept. 8 series premiere. Even worse, the show's second episode drew a lousy 1.8 million, bad even by CW standards (perhaps they may want to bring in Locklear sooner?).

What do you think: Is casting Locklear a good move? Or does it reek of desperation? And since Locklear and Wagner's characters are married, could her return to the show mean there's a chance we'll see Dr. Peter as well?
