Dancing with the Stars: Performance 1 Results

Ashley Hamilton and his partner Edyta Sliwinska

(S09E03) Two nights, two eliminations, and a lot of unnecessary crap until the eliminations. Thus is the Dancing with the Stars elimination process. And we're live. Unfortunately, no outbursts from Macy Gray tonight.

Encore performance Kelly & Louis – Viennese Waltz – One thing that I loved about the performance was the way that they incorporated the dress into the performance. It still brings Sharon chills.

After a quick recap of the women's performance last night. The eliminations begin with the men first. The first two couples safe are Louie & Chelsie and Aaron & Karina.

Musical Guest: Sean Kingston "Face Drop" – I remember seeing Sean on So You Think You Can Dance over the summer, and I found it funny the way he stood there and the dancers danced around him. It continued tonight. To make it worse, he lip-synced.

The Losers Club – We're introduced to the funny losers of the show, not the older women. Penn Gillette jokes around about raising losers for children, Jeffrey Ross roasts himself, and Kenny Mayne gets called a loser when he walks around. Whatever happened to his partner Andrea Hale? The losers club is ready to accept two more applications. Luckily for Mark & Lacey, Chuck & Anna, and Donnie & Kym, the three are safe to dance another week.

Men's Elimination – Three contestants remain: Ashley & Edyta, Michael & Anna, and Tom & Cheryl. After awkward waiting, Tom & Cheryl and Michael & Anna are both safe. This means that Ashley & Edyta are eliminated. It's a shame because I love watching Edyta prance around in legwarmers.

Music Video: Miley Cyrus - "Party in the USA" – Well, she's not going to the VMA's for this video. Did anyone read the lyrics to this song? The Disney factory must have a winning formula where they fill in blanks with current words like "butterfly" and "Britney."

The women are next, and the first two couples safe are Natalie & Alec and Mya & Dmitry.

Adam Corrolla's Pep Talk – Adam reminds the men that it was four seasons ago that a man won the season. Adam makes fun of Donnie never changing his name to "Don," Ashley being a girl's name, and uses the word "Rectagon." It's slightly funny, due to the celebrities' reactions.

Macy's Stars of Dance:The Lion King – "Circle of Life" – The whole thing was great, except for the fact that the audience couldn't stop clapping the whole time. The performance was the most visual of all Macy's Stars of Dance performances. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the one guy dressed up as the cheetah.

The next three women safe are Melissa & Mark, Joanna & Derek, and Debi & Maks.

Tribute Patrick Swayze – We start with "She's Like the Wind" with Dmitry and Chelsie, and he lifts her so gracefully and painlessly. They glide across the floor with such ease. Jonathan and Anna T. dance to "Unchained Melody" which is solid, but I don't remember dancing in Ghost; at least Anna looked like a clay pot being molded. Tony and Cheryl finish with "(I've Had) The Time of my Life" and the performance basically becomes a reenactment from Dirty Dancing culminating with Cheryl being lifted over Tony.

Len gives a final statement. He compares the contestants as buds of flowers where some blossom earlier than others. Then America plucks several before they bloom. Our final three couples are Kathy & Tony, Macy & Jonathan, and Kelly & Louis. Kelly & Louis are obviously safe. The couple with the lowest total is Macy & Jonathan. It's a shame because I would have loved to see her spacey antics.

While I agree with Ashley going home, I thought Kathy should have gone instead. Was America's decision correct? Leave comments below. Remember, you can always find the full episode of DWTS on SlashControl.

It's such a shame that Edyta never gets a partner who has the potential of going far, she's been there every season & is such a great dancer. I think Cameron got her the closest. Poor Jonathan too, such a gentleman & stuck with such bad dancers. Yes, America did get it right. Top 6- Donny, Aaron, Mya, Joanna, Natalie, Kelly

Thank goodness Macy's gone! She looked like she didn't even wanna be there. Poor Jonathan.

I always love seeing Kenny Mayne. The Losers Club bit was funny, especially when he was heckled when walking outside. The Lion King dancers were so impressive. It actually brought tears to my eyes.

If Maks & Karina were still together, I wonder if they'd be the ones who danced to "Time of My Life", instead of Tony & Cheryl.

Macy Gray is the least graceful, least enthusiastic female who seemed not to want to work to be on the show. On her behalf I have heard that she had a gruelling tour. (I have no idea what anyone else's schedule was like.) Last, but far from least, Macy can't dance. I saw no real footwork and no rhythym. cococafe
