Gossip Girl: The Lost Boys

Gossip Girl
(S03E03) "Please tell me it was Blair and not Georgina." - Vanessa and Serena in unison to Dan

Dan may be on a new path since he arrived at NYU, but he hasn't changed enough to be Blair-worthy. Funny that both girls hoped that he slept with Blair and not Georgina. I get that they prefer Blair over Georgina even if both can be rather evil, but Dan and Blair will happen when pigs fly. Now I have to try to remove that mental picture of Blair and Dan making out from my brain!

In any case, this week's episode of Gossip Girl continued the Dan and Georgina hooking up storyline, put Chuck and Blair at odds, and put Carter and Serena at odds, while having Scott make some true and false revelations.

Georgina should become a strategist of sorts when she finally matures and starts acting like an adult, because she pulled a lot of strings this week and some I didn't see coming.

As soon as I saw the "La Table Élitaire" invite, I knew she was behind it. My clue? Who would call a secret society like that? My mother tongue is French, and I can tell you that even if grammatically accurate, the name sounds terrible. In any case, Georgina once again showed that she studied her prey before attacking. She lured Blair right in as Georgina tapped into something Blair desired: be part of an elite secret society which could help her rise from the bottom of the food chain at NYU. Sadly for Georgina, that plan didn't fully work, as Blair gave the photograph to Chuck in the end, but it did make Blair waste a lot of time and energy, as well as be at odds with Chuck for most of the episode. What I didn't expect was that Georgina was also behind having Chuck try to buy the picture. Georgina has some friends in high places and great planning skills to be able to pull everything off like that.

Serena's warning to Dan about Georgina will surely come to fruitition next week (or the week after). It's clear that Georgina will cause havoc to have Dan suffer for asking for a break in their relationship. Since she overheard Scott's secret and decided to book a ticket to Boston, it wouldn't surprise me that she uncovers the whole truth and finds an evil and twisted way to reunite Rufus and Lily with Scott. In the end, it would be a good deed since the parents would be reunited with their son. But knowing Georgina, she'll make everyone suffer along the way. Do you think my theory is accurate, or do you have another theory on what Georgina will do in Boston? Share your thoughts in comments below.

I was really surprised that Scott told Vanessa the truth as soon as she asked him to. I expected him to try to lie his way out of it first and then tell the truth when Vanessa would pressure him more and more. I can't believe he didn't tell Rufus the truth when it was time, especially since he now had his adoptive parents' support. He sort of gave a reason to Vanessa as to why he lied but I feel like there is more to it. We didn't see the whole scene with his mother so could it be that she told him other things to make him come up with the lie? Then again, maybe he truly felt like it wasn't time to come clean, and maybe he was satisfied with having seen and interacted with his half-siblings and father. I'm pretty sure Scott will come back to the Upper East Side sooner rather than later. Either it will be because of Georgina's meddling, or Vanessa pressuring him because she can't keep the secret anymore, or because he'll hear that Lily is back in town. After all, he has yet to meet his biological mother.

Again this week, I didn't care much about the Serena and Carter storyline. I'm glad that Chuck and Blair's plan to bring Carter down so Serena would break off with him had the latter tell what Carter did for her during the summer; it was about time someone learned she looked for her father. Other than that, the storyline is really boring me. It's flat. Am I the only one not being compelled by Carter and Serena? I'm sure there's trouble ahead, but I don't care. Do you?

Speaking of trouble for Carter, I can't wait to see what Bree has in store for him. She seems to be a woman on a mission, and I'm sure she'll do whatever she needs to to bring Carter on a silver platter to her family so to get back in their good graces, especially since she is dating Nate. This will surely have Nate see Bree under a different light ... will her mission make them break up in the end? I hope not because I enjoy Joanna Garcia a lot. However, it wouldn't surprise me if Nate wants none of that type of drama, as he has had enough in the past.

Nate is once again somewhat useless to the show. His storyline is separated from all others, even if Bree is about to make Carter's life miserable. If the writers want us to care about Nate, they'll need to bring him back to the core gang.

What did you think of the episode? What do you think Georgina is up to? How/when do you think Rufus and Lily will learn the truth about Scott? Do you care about Serena and Dan? How could the writers make Nate relevant to the show as he was in the first season? Don't be afraid and comment below!

Sorry, but Vanessa actually said that she hoped it was Georgina and not Blair, while Serena hoped for the opposite.

That's what happens when people talk together, you sometimes miss stuff. Thanks for pointing it out. It makes much more sense and is actually funnier that they said the opposite!
