Sons of Anarchy: Eureka

Charlie Hunnam on Sons of Anarachy(S02E04) - "If you come across something that don't make you miserable, enjoy it." - Chief Unser to Tara

Was I the only human being on the planet who was completely snowed by the BS claim that SAMCRO was headed out of town to do a charity blood drive for Charming? The thought of any shady dealings never crossed my mind for a second. I probably wouldn't even have any doubts if they devised a charity scheme that's more their speed like a "Ride Joust for Diabetes" or a "100-Yard Coke Line Snort for Macular Degeneration."

It's not a sign of my stupidity. Believe me, I've got much more convincing signs of that. For instance, I drive a Pontiac, a brand new Pontiac ... with a 30,000 mile warranty.

It's a sign that the characters are becoming more endearing and real and they play on your emotions more than if they were just flat images on a high definition television screen. They are flesh and blood and bone, and all the little synapses and thoughts that make them human beings are connecting. They have made the audience, or at least the audience that sits in my living room each week, part of their family.

Of course, I'm sure I'm not going to be invited to the club's random excuse of the week to get hammered and break stuff or Luanne's next porn film wrap party. I'm not talking about that kind of family bond. I'm talking about the kind that makes them real and enduring characters, the feeling that you know them better than they know themselves. That's the kind of moment aspiring screenwriters dream about, so they can take everything you think you know about them and completely make you jerk your head around when you aren't looking. That and finding steady work that doesn't force them to live off Ramen noodles and ketchup for the rest of their lives.

Some of SAMCRO's definition of family did seem a little over the top, like the sleeping cap that Jax's baby had on with the club's Grim Reaper logo stitched across it like he bought it off the rack at Baby Hot Topix. I understand that the brotherhood runs through their veins, but do these people have any item of clothing that doesn't have their logo burned, stenciled, stitched or inscribed on it? Does the clubhouse have an overpriced gift shop positioned right next to the exit?

That bond is starting to weaken as Jax and Clay continue to butt heads. This time, Clay turned the tension up to 11 when he made his first official threat to Jax to stop bringing up Donna's death or he would kill him. The word "kill" is thrown around an awful lot these days. Two friends are playing on the playground when one gives the other a "wet willy" and he says he's gonna "kill" him. A football coach puts his best linebacker on the field and tells him he wants him to "kill" the quarterback. However, when the word "kill" is being used by a leather clad meathead who runs more guns than Smith and Wesson, it's a safe bet he's using the word "kill" to its most specific definition. Expect him to dole out more damage than an "Indian burn" or a "nipple cripple," even if the points are the same.

These guys are known for going over the top, like their plan to spring Tig from the bounty hunters by driving a frigging truck into their hotel room. Sure, it's television and a less destructive plan would have made more sense and certainly attracted less attention, but it was smart of Tig to drive the bounty hunters crazy and force them to beat on him so they would have to stop and patch him up to give the club more time to catch up to him. I've always wanted to be in a situation like that, where insulting my captors is the only way to survive. Sure I do that now, but I'm getting paid for it.

Add in Gemma's ongoing personal battle with the sexual assault the encroaching Aryans caused and things could get to a furious boiling point fast. It's weird seeing her in such a vulnerable state, almost to the point that she's unfamiliar with these feelings or doesn't know a way to work through times without sticking a tire iron in someone's face. Thankfully, she has Police Chief Unser to turn to who has really shined as a steady father figure for Gemma, even if he has no earthly idea what to do or how to help without spilling the beans on this yet to be opened can of worms.

Hi Michele.
Glad to hear you throw in your "2 cents", although I don't think you can really afford it.

Regarding the baby's hat with the logo: Ya see there's this thing called the "Internet",ok? And you can actually go online to websites like, oh say: Cafepress where you can have a logo, picture or just about anything put on just about everything....baby caps included! Wow! Who'd thunk it!

Flame On!

They also have this thing called "Humor", where someone makes a deliberately exaggerated statement and humans "laugh". It's called a joke.

Why am I playing with the Troll? Never mind, dergvrtvytyvrt, keep attacking everyone that you read because it makes you feel better about yourself.

Bye now.

"...insulting my captors is the only way to survive. Sure I do that now, but I'm getting paid for it." Ha!

Bobby should have been the one to roll down the cliff after he's betraying the club with Luanne, and also being a dork by riding a piece of crap bike.

Piney driving the truck and Jackson and the guys hopping on, despite Clay, that was the greatest moment in the show this season! Finally the guys assert their power to be lawless!

Gemma should have gotten in the porta-potty when the guy had his pants down--that would have been only fair. But then she totally wimps out. She broke that girl's nose without a second thought but can't take action against the guy who gang-raped her?

This is an escapist, wish-fulfillment show for those of us who are essentially powerless in our real lives. Watching Gemma be powerless in this show is a drag.

Charlie Hunnam, with his nuanced acting and great chops is the reason I watch. There is way too much Katey Sagal, especially this depressing story line about her being raped, and powerless, and losing her self-confidence. Jeeze, don't you think we see enough of that in real life?

Kurt seems determined to make Katey the star instead of Charlie H, no matter what the cost in viewers or the integrity and concept of the show. I tune in for Charlie and wish to see less Gemma, thank you.

Your comment about the charity ride, I was fooled too! But it also has the implication that Jackson is now lying to Tara about what he's really doing, when he said he would tell her the truth.

Integrity is what this show is supposed to be about. If Jackson loses his integrity, along with Clay, Bobby, Tig, where can it go?

You don't understand why she wouldn't kill someone? Ido. Charlie is just one of an ensamble cast. Its great you like him, but I wouldn't want to watch any more of him then we do now. Sure he is handsome, but he isn't the best actor or character in the show. Just the best looking. maybe. There are others watching too, you know. I loved how we finally get a chance to see other characters come through. Frackly Im tired of Jax and his dad and his problems with everyone. This was a fun episode. zmore like this would help.

Im sorry, but what makes you think that integrity is what the show is about? And how do you know who has it? They all have it to some extent. Clay is doing his best for the club. Jax is sneaking round trying to undermine people. None of them are innocent. Not even Donna. Anyone who marries people that kill and run guns is not innocent and lives by the sword. Donna got upset with the club not because they do bad things, but because she didn't want Opie to go to jail. Hardly heroic. Its too bad she died. But in no way is she innocent. She died because her husband murdered a man and was framed by the cops. Thats not innocent.

I had hoped Gemma had acted it would have help her start to heal emotionally. Granted that is probably not the best way to heal from that but for her it would work. I think she really wants to tell Clay but she is afraid for him. As you can see his is not superman and she knows this, but I think it is just going to come blurting out very soon. She can't hold it in much longer.

I agree that I wished Gemma would plow into the portapotty with her huge SUV. As a woman, that would have felt sooo good. Oops. My foot slipped off the break. Since she can't shoot him, she needs to do something.
What happened to the woman cooking the books? Did the accountant not tell on her?
I just started watching this season and I like it.

I thought Gemma was gonna knock over the port-o-potty with Henry Rollins inside with her SUV. That would have been funny.

First off, Bikers here in the Northeast have more charity runs then there are good shows on TV.

Second, go into your local Harley dealer and you'll find a gift shop with baby clothes and much more.

Last, if you don't know what you're talking about, do us a favor and keep it to yourself.

smwvc- I think we all know that bikers do alot of charity bike rides and raise alot of money for all kinds of good causes, but I don't think that most of those biker clubs are running guns and selling proctection like SAMCRO. Also, Harley is a world wide name so you would expect to see clothes with the name on it, but again, SAMCRO is a much smaller club than Harley and I think the reviewer was just making a funny observation about the gift shop. Maybe you just got up too early this morning?

Personally, I am with you. 8 paragraphs and barely touched on what happened during the episode. This is the 3rd or 4th SOA review that has been so full of cute little remarks that I wanted to throw up.

This sort of thing might work for some, but it drives me crazy.
