'The Hills' Premiere Preview: Watch Out for Kristin Cavallari

The bitch is back!

That's how MTV's been promoting the new season of 'The Hills,' which premieres tonight. "The bitch" refers to Kristin Cavallari, formerly of 'Laguna Beach,' who is replacing Lauren Conrad as the reality series' lead character.

'Laguna' fans will remember Kristin as the vixenish foil who "stole" good girl Lauren's boyfriend, Stephen Colletti. But Cavallari begs to differ, saying she cried about her portrayal when that show premiered. "I almost felt like it was unfair for [MTV] to come into our lives at such a young age and sort of mess with things," she told the L.A. Times. "I don't regret it, but I was 17 -- of course I wanted to be on TV. I felt like they should have been a little bit more careful with us."

Now, Kristin is older and wiser, after adding a few acting gigs to her resume, and is returning to reality TV with a completely different mindset. "They tell us what to talk about," she continued. "Listen, I have fun with it. They film 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' the same way." (Seems like fun equals catfights: Tabloids and blogs have already chronicled tussles between Kristin and 'Hills' star Audrina Patridge.)

As for being "the bitch," Kristin's eating it up this time. "Honestly, I think it's fun to play the bad girl, and no one remembers the nice girl, you know?" she told MTV News.

The question is: Will fans take catty Kristin to heart, like they did with lovable Lauren? Or is the sun ready to set on 'The Hills'?
