I actually like Jay Leno's 10@10

The Jay Leno Show has taken a bit of a beating from viewers and critics, but my household has been watching, and we like the show. Sure, there are parts of it that fall a little flat (like, ok, The Real Housewives of Orange County bit last night; Jason didn't like it either), but overall, Jay's pretty funny no matter what he's doing, and we enjoy the show.

One of the bits we like is 10@10, the part where Jay gets celebrities on his screen and asks them ten questions about anything. In last night's episode, he caught up with Billy Crystal, currently in Philadelphia touring with his show, 700 Sundays.

The reason I like the 10@10 segment is because we get to see celebrities in their own element, i.e. the set of their latest film project (Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, pictured), stage show (Billy Crystal), or whatever else they're promoting. I don't know if the celebrities know the questions ahead of time (ok, they probably do), but it seems like they have to think on their feet and come up with witty and/or interesting answers.

Some do better than others at this -- and as Jason mentioned, the time-delay is a little goofy -- but it's still fun, and also doubles as a good plug for whatever project they're working on.

Does TV Squad have a marketing deal with NBC? The way you keep force feeding The Jay Leno Show on us has me wondering. Maybe some of the "comics" moonlighting as writers around here are hoping for an appearance some day.

It's a variety show, these kinda shows are fillers. I'd rather go see Leno or Letterman live than watch an edited program with bunch of scripted segments and token celebrity moments.

You know if NBC keeps Leno as their 9pm (central time) show for the long haul they are going make it so much easier for stations like CW and FOX to slaughter NBC in 7 and 8pm slots. Both of these stations have the local news on 9pm. So they really only have 2 hours of primetime programing.

In the last few years both CW and FOX have been pretty fierce in their line ups. Almost nothing NBC puts up for 7-8pm slots competes with CBS or ABC. They been duking it out with FOX and CW and will struggle even more now that they only have 2 hours of primetime TV.

I kind of wish you guys would stop reviewing this show, I hate it...it's quiet lame. Instead of reviewing it every single night, couldn't you review 5 different shows and maybe reach more people with varied interests?
