James Franco to Guest on 'General Hospital' (We're Not Kidding)

Here's a soap twist we never saw coming: Actor James Franco ('Milk'; 'Pineapple Express') will guest on the Emmy-winning soap opera 'General Hospital,' beginning this November.

Franco will play a "mysterious person" who causes trouble for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), said ABC Daytime's Jori Petersen, according to EW.com. Why is he doing this? We don't know. Franco is fresh off a great year at the movies, with roles in 'Pineapple Express' and the Oscar-winning 'Milk.' He'll also appear in the 2010 flicks 'Eat, Pray, Love,' opposite Julia Roberts, and 'Howl,' in which he will play poet Allen Ginsberg. At this point, taking a role on a soap opera seems like a bizarre career move, at the very least.

Franco kidnaps Jason aboard the Pineapple Express to Port Charles; A hostage crisis follows, forcing Sonny Corinthos to step in and save the day.

In a classic case of revenge, Franco, a former classmate, reveals that Jason was both a freak and a geek in high school. Jason then teams with his new best friend, Spinelli, to take him down.

Got 'Milk'?
The town of Port Charles is rocked to the core when Franco exposes himself as Jason's former gay lover.

Bugging Out
A spider exterminator by day, serial killer by night, Franco fumigates Jason's house after a deadly outbreak -- only to trap him in a web of destruction.
