Sarah Brown bounces back, from General Hospital to Bold and Beautiful

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 1st 2009 8:03PM
sarah_Brown_ABCYou know, a few weeks ago when Sarah Brown blithely tweeted that she was leaving General Hospital, acting all la-di-da about losing a job, it should have been a tip-off that she had something cooking somewhere else. Today we learned what that something else is. Sarah Brown is joining The Bold and the Beautiful on November 6. Talk about a cushy landing! Oh, and her last day on GH is November 5, so there's no time for daytime fans to miss her.

The latter situation is quite unusual for daytime. But ABC agreed to release Brown from her contract early so she could make the swift transition. B&B executive producer Bradley Bell was thrilled and surprised. "I was stunned. It was something really very human and very big of them," he said.

On B&B, Sarah's going to be a good girl, at least initially. She'll be playing Sandy Sommers, a new character on the canvas. Sandy is described as "goodhearted," which is the anti-thesis of her GH viper, Claudia Zacchara. Claudia is a mob princess who has ordered lethal hits on her enemies. It's still to be determined if Claudia will simply be written off with a move away from Port Charles or if GH head writer will have Claudia rubbed out as retribution for her evil doings?

Sandy, on the other hand, is not a murderess... at least not yet. She's going to be a player, though, getting in the middle of happily married Nick and Bridget. She's also going to get involved with Whip, played by Brown's former GH costar Rick Hearst. Sounds like fun!

If think, that Sarah Brown, was the best thing that happened to GH after Laura. She carried both roles of Carly and Claudia with star quality. I couldn't wait for her character to appear. She will be missed. As for the current Carly not much there, sappy and over bearing always crying about something. Lulu and Maxie make up for Sarah's absence, they are fun to watch.

I started to watch GH because of Sarah Brown and now will start watching BB. I am not sure I'll continue watching GH.

General Hospital is getting better the more I watch it. I got into it in 2003, when Zander and AJ was still there, and Tamara Braun. I loved Sarah Brown on GH, and on ATWT, and I can't wait to see her on B and B!!! I think GH has it's ups and downs, like any show. If you hate it so much stop watching it; if you don't watch it anymore we know why so you don't have to remind us.

I have to say that Sarah Brown is one heck of an actress. I remember when she first came on to General Hospital as Bobbi's long lost daughter and took Bobbi's husband away from her. Even then, she annoyed the shitzu out of me, only because she was a tremendously good actress. I salute her and wish her the very best in her transition to B&B. Her presence in G.H. will be sorely missed. We love you Sarah. Keep up the GREAT work.

She was the first "Carly" and won 3 Emmys in that role and they wasted her talents this time round. I hate the latest "Carly" and I will follow this actress - she was new to me and I can see that she is incredible.

Hmmm...That sucks. When those stupid magazine commercials said Sonny or Claudia was going to die, I thought 'Yeah, right! Thats what you guys always say!' But I guess Claudia's a goner...I liked her as Carly and as Claudia, and she was only on the show as Claudia a relatively short time. I wish I knew why she was leaving...

Without Laura the show is stupid repetitive and should be canceled on the fact alone the story lines are stupid. I can't imagine why anyone would get sucked into daytime junk.

I didn't like her as Carly at all, and thought that it was a big mistake to bring her back in a different role on GH. Although, I've been a loyal GH watcher for the past 20 years, I feel that it has steadily been less interesting in recent years. Does anyone agree with me?

Good that was the stupidest thing ABC did to bring back such a major character back as another role. I stopped watching General Hospital after 29 years when they did that.

twinkies for all

Why didn't you stop watching when they brought back Tony Geary to play a different role? Who cares if they bring somebody back, or recast their characters to different actors? Get over it!
