New Chris Lilley project in the works

summer heights highExciting news for both fans of Summer Heights High and men dressing as multiple characters in general! HBO is helping to launch a new Chris Lilley project called Angry Boys, set to begin production this month.

I've seen some of Lilley's other work and, while it's intriguing, none of it has been quite as amazing as the sheer ridiculousness that was Summer Heights High. It became a phenomenon on the Internet and found a good deal of success when it finally came to the States via HBO.

Angry Boys will continue Lilley's usual mockumentary style and he will, of course, play multiple characters. From the description of the show, it sounds like it is going to be an exploration of what it means to be a male in these times. Fingers crossed this means Lilley doesn't play anymore teenage girls, because he is almost too good at it. Creepy-good.

I'm also curious to see if this show is going to provide any new direction for Lilley, if only in the slightest bit. When I think of Angry Boys, I can't help but visualize this show as a bunch of guys exactly like his Jonah character running around. It would be disappointing to see someone as talented as Lilley doing the same sort of thing over and over again.

And just for kicks, here's one of my favorite clips from Summer Heights High, featuring one of the three Lilley characters, Mr. G:

I loved that show. I'll watch anything Mr. Lilly puts out there.
