John Cho talks FlashForward

I wanted to add a spoiler warning with this post, but sadly, John Cho, who plays FBI agent Demetri Noh on ABC's FlashForward, is pretty tight lipped about all the big reveals that are coming up this season. I had the chance to speak with him recently, and despite my continued harassment, he's good at keeping secrets. But, that doesn't mean fans will have to wait long for answers to start rolling in about the mysterious massive blackout that allowed everyone in the world to see into the future.
"I have been excited by and impressed by how much they're revealing this early on," he said. "There's been serious bombshells on a weekly basis ... I feel like they [the writers] are very conscious about giving the audience a lot of information."
And yet, he's mum about what these bombshells are. When pressed about whether or not he has any idea if his character is still alive in six months, Cho demurred. And while he knows more about his character than we do, there's still a lot that's left out. "I have a couple pieces of information," he says, "But it's mostly piecemeal ... it's mostly chronological. As an acting exercise it's been great getting these new scenes." So, good for the actor, but bad for impatient fans.
Cho, if you'll remember, also played Hikaru Sulu in this summer's Star Trek, and spoke often about how important it was to see other Asians on TV doing something aside from "throwing karate kicks."
So, how does it feel for him now to be one of the few minority leads in a prime-time drama? "It's interesting," he said. "I try not to think about it too much. When I'm working, it's not something I think about ... but, it is very gratifying and only something that I've recently allowed myself to enjoy."
So, even though we've only just started the season, any ideas on what possibly caused the mass blackout?
