Desperate Housewives: Never Judge a Lady by Her Lover
(S06E03) "You wanted to look pretty for your ex-lover." - Carlos to GabyAs advertised on most TV sites over the past few weeks, the cutie gardener and Gaby's ex-lover is back! John Rowland, whom we last saw in season four married to a rich daddy's girl, returned to Wisteria Lane this week to cause chaos.
Is John still married? Did he try to seduce Gaby or another Wisteria Lane citizen? Answers coming up after the jump, along with my take on John's return, which was first rumored to happen in the season five finale.
John
John has been divorced for a year and now owns a restaurant. The fact that he is as hot as before and now a free man, adds a twist to the storyline. Even if Gaby showed that she still had some feelings for John, based on what we saw tonight, it looks like she won't act on it. However, it's clear that the show is setting him up to have something with one of the women.
Gaby's niece would be my choice. Ana stated before that she wanted to be like Gaby. Since her model dreams were put to a halt by Gaby, Ana will surely go for the next best thing: Gaby's ex-lover. Oh the drama this could bring! It would definitely create more tension between Gaby and Ana, eh? If John were to stay on the show, I wouldn't be adverse to seeing him hook up with Julie. You?
Susan
I get why Susan is so obsessed with finding Julie's attacker. However, I got quickly tired of her pointing the finger at Danny without hard evidence. I was so relieved when Lynette reminded Susan that everyone on Wisteria Lane was 100% sure that Porter set the club on fire when he didn't. It didn't do the trick, as Susan went crazy mad on Danny. Susan learned the hard way that you shouldn't point the finger too fast. Sadly, she learned her weekly lesson too late as Wisteria Lane residents trashed the Bolens' lawn. Susan silently asking for forgiveness by helping clean the mess was a very fit ending for this part of the storyline.
The Bolens
Speaking of the Bolens, I hope Susan and Angie sort of patching things up will mean us learning more about this secretive family in the coming weeks. Bob did try his best to get the scoop but it didn't work.
We did learn a few tidbits: Danny confirmed that his family has secrets, "Bolen" is not their real last name; "Angie, Nick and Danny" might not even be their real first names; Angie claims that if it weren't for her, they wouldn't have had to raise Danny while on the run.
So what could Angie had done that was so awful and/or illegal that they had to be on the run for so long? Hearing Angie tell Danny to aim for the head and not the legs makes me think that she may have had dealings with the mob or something. Why aim for the head unless the attacker is a really bad guy?! What's your theory on the Bolens?
Bree and Karl
Bree and Karl sitting in a tree: K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love ... It was inevitable that Karl and Bree would eventually have feelings for one another. They are passionate and complex characters who are very good for one another right now. I said before that it was time for Orson to go. However, I'm glad he was around this week, as he served a purpose: show Bree that she had feelings for Karl by telling her that only a woman in love would throw oil on the floor to make the man she loved and the other woman fall. If only Orson knew what Bree's motives really were...
The Scavos
The kids reactions to the pregnancy announcement were priceless! The best part was the twin telling Tom and Lynette that they should have used protection since Lynette will have to quit her job and because Tom won't have a chance to graduate.
I would have preferred Lynette being upfront with Carlos about her pregnancy. Carlos not giving the promotion to the other woman because of a potential pregnancy sadly reflects what many businessmen (and even a few women) think of when it's time to give promotions, and even hire. They prefer going with men, even if less qualified, than going with women since they might get pregnant and go on a maternity leave. Looks like Season 1 business-driven Carlos is slowly trying to come back, eh?
Now that Lynette and Tom decided to lie so Lynette would get the promotion, I hope that she fights to keep her promotion and go on maternity leave without losing her job. It would be a good storyline to have her fight for women rights and then see her juggle with the babies and her demanding job.
