For the rest of the month, TV is all Halloween, all the time

medium night of the living dead
I visited the pumpkin patch last weekend and totally massacred a 30 lb. pumpkin and feasted on its flesh, so I am officially in the Halloween spirit. Luckily, there's a crapload of TV to help sustain my ghoulish mood. TV Tango has compiled a pretty comprehensive list of Halloween-themed programming starting today and going through the rest of the month.

Some of the highlights include a Moonlight marathon starting today on SyFy, as part of their "31 Days of Halloween" programming. On Sunday, The Simpsons is airing their 20th "Treehouse of Horror" episode, while Monday has a some good kids' fare, with Halloween-themed America's Funniest Home Videos on ABC Family, and Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie on Disney.

The weekends are all about movie marathons with family-friendly movies like The Addams Family and Hocus Pocus on ABC Family, and scarier stuff on AMC, with Return of the Living Dead and The Shining, among other horror flicks. One thing that I'm pretty excited about, is that the October 30th episode of Medium is a special Night of the Living Dead episode, in which the characters are all inserted into the classic George A. Romero film.

As for the day itself, well, you can't throw a rotting corpse around without hitting a marathon on a cable network. Fine Living is devoting the day to haunted homes, while SyFy is hosting a Ghost Hunters marathon. If you're not all horror-movied out, TCM is having a mega-marathon of old movies, including The Haunting and The Curse of the Cat People. All in all, it's a pretty scary month we have ahead of us.

What do you plan on watching this Halloween?

Alright well just to show that I can admit my own mistakes looks like Turner Classic Movies will be showing "Poltergeist" this week.

There never seems to be much in the way of movies on television during Halloween. Sure TCM is showing "horrer" films but they should show more updated classics like "Poltergiest", and "The Omen", something along those lines.

But the whole point of TCM is old classics. Newer horror flicks are on AMC etc. (they showed The Fog about three times a week last October). If TCM doesn't show Val Lewton and William Castle, no one will, and that would be tragic.

Ellen usually dresses up as someone/something clever on her Halloween episode - one year as Jennifer Lopez, denying her pregnancy, despite an ever-growing belly full of those twins - but this year the actual holiday falls on a Saturday so she may not don a costume. It'd lbe cool if the Disney channel could swing Voldemort showing up on the Wizards of Waverly Place, but my sense of humor's kind of strange, so I've been told.

I know it was mentioned elsewhere that NCIS and Castle are having Halloween episodes this year. Any word on who else might be having one?

Yeah, the first link in the post takes you to the actual schedule, which includes all of the Halloween-themed episodes. Castle, Trauma, Medium, The Ghost Whisperer, and Eastwick are some of the ones listed.
