Review: Desperate Housewives - The God-Why-Don't-You-Love-Me Blues

(S06E04) "Even the people we love keep secrets." - Mary Alice
Mary Alice probably told us twice a season in her narration that people on Wisteria Lane had secrets. This week's Desperate Housewives main secrets involve: the Bolens are afraid Danny will spill out their secrets and we learn a bit more about Angie's scar; thanks to Andrew, Susan learns some of Julie's secrets; Lynette tries to hide her secret from Carlos but the body changes pregnant women experience are making it more difficult for her to hide her pregnancy; Bree lies to Katherine so that the latter doesn't discover the affair with Karl.
The Bolens
Angie impresses me every week. She is a strong woman who knows how to get what she wants. Seeing her bribe Porter in order to have him throw Danny a party so he could get friends and be happy was priceless. Of course, she had an ulterior motive: making sure Danny wouldn't spill their secrets. I surely wouldn't want to be on Angie's wrong side.
Angie also shows strength by keeping her family together and keeping that scar. This week, we learned a bit more about it. Turns out there was an explosion and that Nick stood by her through the ordeal. Danny seems to be dead set on having her get that scar removed eventually. Am I the only one who got a weird vibe from Danny when he told that to his mom, then said he would always take care of her and then hugged her? Did something tragic happen between those two to have them be so close or have Danny be so protective? Or maybe it's because Nick cheated on Angie?
It wasn't clearly stated at first that Nick cheated on Angie with a younger woman. But the fact Danny stopped Nick's flirting with 21-year-old women and told his father he, Danny, "knew" with a deadly stare said it all.
Julie
Susan learned, via Andrew, that Julie quit med school six months ago, that she worked as a waitress and that the man Julie was with was married. Later, Susan got a clue when reading Julie's journal: the man's name started with "D".
As soon as it was confirmed that Nick had an affair with a younger woman, I knew it was Julie. I so need to rewatch the premiere to see if they gave us clear clues in the scenes between Julie and Nick. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long for confirmation since Nick visited Julie in the hospital and said, "Hey Julie. It's Dominic. I miss you." Some of you predicted that Nick would turn out to be Julie's ex. Julie claims that for sure he isn't the one who attacked her. However, Susan isn't so sure since Julie is the one who broke things up and there was a pregnancy scare.
With these new tidbits in hand, who do you think attacked Julie? Based on the fact that Nick/Dominic brushed her hair in a loving way and said he missed her, I don't think he is the one. Could Angie be it? Maybe she discovered the affair and wanted to take matters in her own hands? Share your theories in comments below!
Katherine
Oh. My. God. Talk about a nervous breakdown! Watching Mike and Susan at all times; thinking she is "watching the game with Mike" when she is spying on him from the window; drawing her wedding cake for when Mike finally marries her; etc. Katherine is on the right path to join Dave in the mental institution!
Lynette
Lynette dodged a bullet this week by having Carlos think she had a boob job. However, she won't be able to hide her pregnancy forever as her belly will soon start to show. She may be able to have Carlos believe she put on a few pounds due to eating too much, but it won't be long before his sharp eye sees the truth. When that happens, there'll be fireworks!
Gaby and John
The John storyline is finally over and I'm very satisfied with how it wrapped up. Gaby and Carlos are great together and I so didn't want Gaby and John to resume their affair. Ana did good by not telling her uncle about the kiss. However, I suspect Ana may use the secret to her advantage down the road. After all, she is a teenager who'll want to break a rule or two eventually. Do you think Ana will blackmail Gaby eventually? Do you think Gaby will play along or tell Carlos the truth?
