New 'Bachelor' Jake Pavelka Promises "Unconditional Honesty"

It turns out that honesty is the best policy. After producers witnessed last season's contender, Jake Pavelka, do the right thing and warn 'Bachelorette' Jillian Harris that a guy she had her sights on, aspiring country singer Wes Hayden, was otherwise committed, they knew they had their next star. Pavelka, a pilot, is currently taping 'The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love,' which is set to air in January 2010 on ABC -- and will hopefully land him the love of his life.
AOL chatted with Pavelka to see if he can stay honest and what he hopes to accomplish by taking a walk in Jillian's shoes.

You realize that if you're not as honest with the women vying for your heart as you were with Jillian Harris, you'll be in so much trouble.
The only thing I have to offer these girls is unconditional honesty.
This is a show that tends to break people's hearts, though.
And I tend to be a "people pleaser." The hardest thing for me is going to be [potentially] hurting people.
Why did you go back on the show to warn Jillian about Wes?
She couldn't see what was going on behind the scenes. She had a glow in her eyes for Wes. I think he came [to the show] with, unfortunately, foul intentions. I understand his CD is climbing the charts [But] he didn't need to be there to waste her time. Jillian was genuinely there to fall in love.
Are you nervous?
Not yet. "Excited" doesn't even begin to get at it. I'm still wondering how did I get this unique opportunity?
Do you think you'll find a wife on the show?
That's the only reason I'm here. I don't care about the show or the production. I'm going to fall in love. [The producers] are just going to watch me do it.
Do you want kids?
Yes. Two or three would be my ideal. But that will be a discussion with -- it sounds funny to say -- "her." I don't even know if she exists yet.
Former 'Bachelor' Brad Womack was raked over the coals after he chose neither of the finalists -- one of whom, DeAnna Pappas, became a 'Bachelorette.' Are you prepared to pick nobody?
Yes. If you get married in vain you will ruin somebody's life. Why would you do that?
At the same time, you really sound ready to get married.
Yes. To the right girl. I'm happy being single. I want somebody [but] I don't need somebody.
