Review: Project Runway - Around the World in Two Days

(S06E10) This week on Project Runway, the challenge was to become inspired by several locations that Michael Kors loves. They were given $150 and the day to make a pretty outfit. Why does it seem like there's always one contestant that gets a topic they know nothing about and makes something not even close?
There are only a few challenges left, and I have to admit that other than Irina, the rest of the competitors' outfits have become more and more boring. Production really needs to give these contestants one or two days off between challenges to recharge their batteries.
After winning last week's challenge, Carol Hannah had the first pick of destinations:
Carol Hannah - Palm Beach
Nicolas - Greece
Althea - St. Tropez
Gordana - New York
Irina - Aspen
Christopher - Santa Fe
Logan - Hollywood
Seeing how the whole episode went, Nicolas should have just taken the easy route and picked New York. Then he could at least have a mental picture of the NYC fashion scene.
After the contestants came back from Mood, I was originally worried by Carol Hannah's print choice, but then when Tanisha walked down she looked stunning in it. Other than Matar, I don't think any of the other women would have looked right in it. She complained about not having any extra fabric, but by the end her dress was too long.
When Tim came around, several contestants weren't ready for him. Gordana didn't even have a dress. I would have done the dress first since it was a very simple piece. One thing I thought was a bad use of words was when Christopher defined his belt as "cutout" to Tim. Luckily it didn't turn out exactly that way; more like a tiger.
The interactions outside of the competition seem genuine enough. Even though Irina is a bitch in interviews, it seems like she was part of the group. The way that it looks, she's closer to the group then Gordana is. I can't fault her because she's getting the job done and she's never a bitch in front of the contestants.
With two hours to go, all the contestants quietly finish up. Nicolas stated that he never really worked with Jersey fabric. It seems odd because Jersey is a prevalent fabric in fashion design. Then again, pants aren't prevalent in Greece either and he got that wrong.
At the runway, joining Heidi, Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia our guest judge was Milla Jovovich. I don't pay attention much to the guest judges week after week, but I was blown away by Milla Jovovich's commentary. She didn't hold back in her opinions and had a strong point of view. Then her little quip at the end on how hard it must be to witness eliminations every week was genuinely nice.
As the models walked down I was surprised how pretty Kojii's face looked without the bangs covering her forehead. I couldn't get the 80s fashion movement at Irina's outfit, but it was really well made. Logan's outfit looked like I could purchase the whole thing from H&M. All it needed to really make it cliche-Hollywood were Ugg boots. I liked Althea's sheer top, but what is her fascination with men's clothing for women?
Althea mysteriously slides again neither being high or low in scores. The contestants with the highest scores are Irina (80s fantasy, expensive), Carol Hannah (strong print and detail work), and Gordana (nice necklace, urban chic). The winner, by a landslide, was Irina.
The lower scorers were the remaining men: Christopher (not vivid, not Santa Fe), Nicolas (not Greek, no fantasy), and Logan (Basic, needed pep). Even though Christopher has been in the bottom for weeks now, he's still safe and Nicolas is sent home.
I'm fine with Nicolas going home, but I am going to miss his quips because we're now just left with Irina bitching about everyone. Do you agree with the elimination? Did Irina deserve to win? Leave comments below.
