Monica Denise Arnold, known to the R&B world simply as Monica, is the latest music artist to get her own reality TV show, a format that has proved to either be quite the career-recovery vehicle or a brilliant portrait of self-parody ... or both. Named after her upcoming fifth studio album, 'Monica: Still Standing' premiered on BET on Tuesday night.
Monica's is currently hard at work on her album and is happily engaged to rapper Rocko, known for his hit single 'Umma Do Me' from his debut 2008 album, 'Self-Made.' Monica and Rocko have two children, Rodney III and Romello, the latter named after Monica's younger brother.

However, Monica's life today is relatively low-key compared to her tumultuous past. After the former Miss Thang released such '90s R&B hits as 'Angel of Mine,' 'The First Night' and 'The Boy is Mine,' her personal and professional life went into turmoil as she underwent a stormy relationship with rapper C-Murder and the struggles of single motherhood. Monica has also struggled with the suicide of her former boyfriend, Jarvis Weems, who shot himself with Monica as a witness, an event brought up in the pilot episode of 'Monica: Still Standing.'
Monica is now set for a comeback, proving she can take some punches and still get back on her feet.
