According to Variety, NBC is teaming with Universal Media Studios to develop a series about a agoraphobic magician who is recruited by a government organization to help them solve especially tricky crimes. The project, which was created by producer David Percelay and director Jon Amiel, will be penned by Dan Fesman, whose writing credits include 'NCIS' and 'Dead Like Me'.

While the field of oddball television sleuths is already crowded, Amiel indicated that they will differentiate this new series from popular shows such as 'Monk' and 'Psych' by focusing more on the process of catching the criminal and less on determining who committed the crime. However, the series seems likely to borrow the same type of humorous tone as its predecessors, as Fesman was brought aboard for his "light comic touch and experience with procedurals".

Whether or not the series can finally discover who sawed NBC's ratings in half remains to be seen.
