Why doesn't NBC just remake The Magician?

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 29th 2009 7:01PM
NBC canceled Southland and they canceled Trauma. But they're interested in a crime-solving magician.

The network has given the greenlight to a pilot for a new drama that will feature a magician who solves crimes. It will be produced and directed by Jon Amiel and written by NCIS' Dan Fesman. No title yet, but I bet NBC will lean towards something like The Magician (hey, it's sorta like The Mentalist!) instead of something lame like Hocus Pocus or Now You See It or something other magic cliche.

Of course, NBC already had a show called The Magician that was about... a crime-solving magician! I loved this show. It starred Bill Bixby, pre-Hulk. It's the show Mulder was watching when Samantha was kidnapped.

Oh...this is original! It's called Jonathan Creek and was aired by the BBC.

Now that The Mentalist, Castle type of shows are popular...let's use the same concept and do a show about a Magician.

And in the process throw in a hot detective to have a love dynamic. And they could call it PRESTO or ABRACADABRA, no need to send me the check for the idea.

I agree with John, NBC has no clue!
I think there needs to be some kind of Universal video on demand, that can be delivered over the air, cable, satellite or internet & then everyone will know what show is popular or not.

NBC has no clue what they're doing. They barely rank with the cable channels. How the mighty have fallen.
