What to Watch: November 2-8

by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 2nd 2009 2:00AM

V (November 3, 8 pm, CTV/ABC)

The latest adaptation of this venerable sci-fi franchise is so flashy, I thought the previews were for a feature film. Here's the basic scoop: good-looking aliens come to Earth, cure all our illnesses, seem nice, but are actually evil. One of them even refuses an interview with Scott Wolf's reporter character, which is reason enough for rebellion, if you ask me. The buzz on this pilot is it's the best thing to come down the pipe in ages.

Also This Week:

November 5 - 30 Rock (9:30 pm, CityTV/NBC)

Tina Fey is making hay with the 'new actor' storyline, with Liz and Jack's search for new talent bringing fresh jokes and great guest stars to the show. This week, TGS holds open auditions, and Jenna and Tracy decide the best way to control the situation is to find the newb themselves.

November 7
- Figure Skating: Grand Prix of Japan (1 pm, CBC)

Coverage of the NHK Trophy event in Japan has been going on since early this week, but is there anything better than settling in for a Saturday afternoon of snacks in front of the TV watching other people perform incredible acts of athleticism, like of triple salchows? If you're a real champion, you'll remain seated until figure skating turns to hockey. It's like living an episode of the 'Battle of the Blades'.
