a 5 parter is overkill for sure, unless its broken down into 5 minute segments or something.

I'm sure she will be better prepared for the media this go-round than she was a year and a half ago.

I agree with Scott H.. Barbra Walters is well know for her shallow, puff piece interviews of celebrities and other well know people. There is no reason to think that she will suddenly develop journalistic integrity and do a hard hitting, penetrating interview with Palin. Certainly, she is capable of doing that, but it has not been her style so far, so why would she change?
And a five part series? What could she possibly find to talk to Sarah Palin about that would take up that much time? Just the thought of listening to Palins' blathering, disjointed and incoherent babbling for that long is enough to make my head spin. So, I definitely agree that five parts is overkill.
Sarah Palin has a book to sell, so we know why she is doing all of these interviews and media events. But why are so many media heavyweights , like Opra and Barbra so eager to participate in Palins publicity campaign? Palin must draw way more viewers than I imagined.
And here's a thought, unlike all of the other times that Palin has been caught up in media blitzes, at least this time she will be talking about something that she knows something about. Herself! No more of those pesky political questions, where you have to , you know, think about things and know stuff. Now it can just be all about Sarah, just the way she likes it. So maybe Palin will come off better in these fluffy interviews,with their softball questions and their warm and cozy interviewers. Then her supporters can shout from the rooftops that Palin is consequential after all, just as they always said. The rest of us will then be left to wonder how someone who was preaching to the choir to begin with could be praised for, at last, stumbling onto expectations that were lowered enough for her to meet.

That said I do have to agree with you Vito - Barbara Walters has been a journalist about as long as Sarah Palin has been alive! Just because she's now relegated herself to "The View" doesn't mean she doesn't know how to conduct a serious interview if she wants.

Barbara Walters will dig harder at Sarah Palin than people think, because she knows nobody else will. Arguably even Oprah will show her claws. Do you know what women who work really freaking hard to break through barriers and succeed in this country hate? Women who move to the top through only good looks and cattiness.

Surprise! Palin isn't taking any chances by letting an actual journalist interview her.

That run-in with Katie Couric (!) was clearly too much for her. Better to stick with celebrity fluff artists like Winfrey and Walters. That way we'll find out about her weight-loss program, why she hates her grandchild's father, what makes her cry, and what kind of tree she'd be.

cynmack didn't say Michelle Obama was a politician. But the things that she is involved in are most certainly political. Iron Chef happens to not be one of them.

Let's see, Sarah Palin is syrupy and a five-part interview with a woman who had been a governor, VP candidate and is a potential presidential candidate is just uncalled for, however an episode of Iron Chef with Michelle Obama appearing will just be great!
